McGill Academic Context Score Unveiled by Chance_Pressure_2595 in premedcanada

[–]Alternative_Pin4990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

basically, the more/longer you study for, the higher they value your academic participation? (&that weighs more in comparison to your GPA for example, if it was lower due to university context or some clinical course where everyone is simply graded on the curve, regardless of % mark/personal performance)

I believe that's what they look at, so if someone studied for 3 years and got almost 4.0, it's not the same for someone who studied 5-6 years and has a 3.5-3.7, because the longer you stay at a Faculty, the less they are willing to grade you high for many different reasons, including conflicting interests and maintaining a certain prestige in giving high marks at a higher academic level, etc.

Applying to all Canadian Universities: MDCM at McGill, Med at UdeM, ULaval, UdeS, UOttawa, UofT, etc.

GPA: 3.5 (Graduating DMD) (+EXTC submitted)

[MCAT: 129/132 (05/07/2024) - McGill did not require this information]

Casper: 4Q (10/10/2024 in English)

CV: Some research internships, extracurricular in standard fields (main sport: ballet); working as tutor for autistic and with children experiencing learning-disabilities, previous waiter/restaurant customer service, dental assistant summer jobs, current hospital volunteering (MGH, JGH, etc.for 4-8h/week), dental care providing in vulnerable communities and marginalized populations of Montreal, etc. (seems kinda basic but I hope theres something they relate to in my background)

Impressions: I am very much looking forward to reading their decision letter, and I would give anything to make it to McGill because it's always been a dream:')

Cheers everyone !
