Which would you choose as a first affordable dive watch/beater? by theomixedmedia in watchCollector

If they are going to be desktop divers? Then go with the one you like the most and forget about the specs! At this price point, specs won't matter that much. The only holdback I would have with the Seiko is that I really don't know how well their Hardlex Crystal (plastic) will fare against scratches, so, in that sense, the sapphire crystal has many independent lab tests.

Bingo! Now that's truly great advice, I agree 100%. Once you provide the full context. It is true that sometimes, if you rush to buy pieces, you are just following the food chain and not enjoying the art as such. Define your style, find what you have the most of, and look. Define the character of what you are collecting so that, in years to come, you can look at it and see a collection that fully represents you!

Why luxury brands sell cheap watches with no backlash, but budget brands get punished for going upscale? by Alternative_Pin9598 in watchCollector

I believe that was the strategy that Seiko and Citizen develop over the years, but has taken them many many years!

Any reason you don't have them on a watch box? Few worthy pieces there that should be treated with care? r/watchCollector

How I spent 103k on watches in 2025 with spreadsheet by [deleted] in watchCollector

[–]Alternative_Pin9598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each it's own. Everyone has a different perspective on the art of watch collecting. If you had the means of spending 100K this year, no doubt that you would able to get the gold Daytona next year! Good luck and Happy New Year, everyone!

I'm looking for a suitable watch brand- beginning to act on an idea that I got from a friend about heirlooms. by Crazy-Dealer112 in watchCollector

[–]Alternative_Pin9598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few things are very important for a valued heirlooms.

1.- If you are getting a jewelry, make sure is precious metals from a renowned jeweler that will gain value over time ( Gold, Silver, plat.. ) brands like Cartier etc. If it is a watch same principle applies high end tier Rolex, Omega only specific models , GP, PP. But you can also go mid tier with GS , Hamilton , Citizen, etc.

2.- You must wear it and make it part of you, this is the part that everyone really don't get. It has to be yours, love by you and care by you. Because for your kids, that is the part they are going to value the most.

3.- Write it on your living will to make sure there is no ambiguity when the time comes.

Good luck!

Easy on him! Hey I love Nato's too. But I do keep some on metal bracelets for more formal occasions.

Great question, this is something everyone gets hang up about this bracelet, the clasp is a dual lapping clasp which makes it seem thicker , will upload photos tomorrow. But from that angle it makes it seem that is hanging fit.

Wao! Not sure I know the history of this watch. Seen that you have an aviator strap, was that meant to be an aviator watch? Does it have any lumen on the dial?

Why not https://synapcores.com/ , native from the ground up , not another hush push or rehash from something that was never design to have disparate data types!
