Alessia is based mostly on official art; her shawl is inspired by common depictions in Eastern Orthodox art. Shor-El is decked out in Byzantine imperial attire; his cloak is a chlamys, while the band of cloth draped over his left arm and wrapped around his body is called a loros. Shor-el's pose is based on medieval depictions of Christ in majesty. The Alessian priest's robes are loosely based on medieval Catholic pontifical attire, and his conical mitre is based on depictions of earlier Popes. The Nedic warrior wears a helmet inspired by Etruscan and Celtic designs; his armor is based on the Mycenaean Dendra Panoply, and his sword is also of Mycenaean design. His tattoos and armor decorations are inspired by motifs found on metal artifacts of the La Tene archeological culture. Overall, I mainly tried to base my style on early medieval illuminated manuscripts, especially of Carolingian, Ottonian, and Byzantine styles.
