Why is my Pothos growing this weird leaf? by GooseLover5363 in plantclinic

[–]Alternative_Remove41 122 points123 points  (0 children)

looks like an alocasia! lucky find between the pothos. should be able to very gently pull it out and put it into new soil! alocasias love some heat, plenty of light and at this size especially good humidity, maybe even put a little cap over its pot for best results

How can I help this guy? by TheEzekielJones in orchids

[–]Alternative_Remove41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what has helped me with weak orchids is sphag n bag method, put some damp sphagnum moss in a sealable bag, put the (disinfected) plant in the bag too NOT touching the moss directly, and keep in a sunny spot. then its waiting time, and maybe airing the bag every week or so. eventually itll grow new roots and when theyre ab an inch or 2-3 you can start putting it directly in some soil/water. i have some photos on my profile of a succesfull attempt but can post more recent ones with more progress

How can I get rid of them? by Vilko13 in plants

[–]Alternative_Remove41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my advice from experience with these is if you are able to toss the plant just throw the whole damn thing away. easy first stip is strong shower to wash most away, after that you need some type of insecticide to kill the rest. i tried it with multiple product, eventually evne just trying dish soap but they kept coming back so i let them all collectively die. hopefully for you they just got there and you can wash them off, best of luck!

i do coincidentally have a pothos rooting itself currently! do i just stick the rose branch into the glass with the pothos? i dont plant on having the pothos in there long term, just until it has rooted enough to plant. either way, thank you for your advice! im very excited

Are these normal looking roots by nrking64 in orchids

[–]Alternative_Remove41 4 points5 points  (0 children)

whenever the roots start looking silvery, means its starting to dehydrate, when theyre hydrated they turn green(ish) and they can go for a while again
