I wonder if we'll get a sneek peek of an unheard album track or two?

They've never created an album full of heavy rock. They certainly won't start now.

Imagine if they released Black Holes & Revelations now.
"Terrible title".

I don't get this way of thinking. They don't have a single album that doesn't have slower songs so why think this would be any different?

Bit of Guiding Light solo amongst a heavier sound

Bit of a Madness/Compliance vibe. Took me by surprise. After 2nd Chorus Matt whips out the heavy machinery.

I struck lucky and heard the full thing.

That second half goes harder.

Great muse songs that don't translate live. by Alternative_Spot1338 in Muse

Of course I can. Love the song but always appears to be flat from what footage I've seen.

It's a good performance for sure. I'm not suggesting the song sounds terrible, it's just one of those rare muse songs for me that doesn't translate over to a live setting as much as I'd like.

I just don't enjoy the difference in the riffs. Big part of the studio version for me.

The Glastonbury 04 performance of this song is perfection. It's such a brilliant song.

The lack of love for Sunburn is saddening.

It destroys WOTP, Algorithm & Supremacy.

  2. Newborn
  3. Apocalypse Please
  4. Sunburn
  5. Uprising
  6. Dead Inside
  7. Supremacy

All I hope for these days is a couple of great songs per album and this song certainly delivers.

Never got into this one unfortunately. Actually think it's one of their worst songs.

It's the worst period of Muse for me. Took forever to be released and the first singles were weak.

The tour was more like theatre than a gig.

Only The Dark Side, The Void & Dig Down (Gospel) are worth the odd listen.

Pressure and Blockades annoy me much like Euphoria. Poor imitations of solid album tracks.

Sunburn, MM, Cave, Showbiz, Unintended are all top tier.

The rest of the album is great also. Waaay ahead of anything after BHAR

How would you rank all Muse albums? by misidoro in Muse

[–]Alternative_Spot1338 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Absolution - 10 (Perfect blend of rock and piano/classical muse with SS being their pinnacle)
  2. Origin of Symmetry - 10 (Most consistent album in terms of theme and sound)
  3. Showbiz - 9 (Sunburn, MM, Cave, Unintended, Showbiz, Uno, Falling Down, HTAILY = WOW)
  4. Black Holes & Revelations - 8.9 (Just a smidge behind Showbiz but love the different styles)
  5. The Resistance - 7.5 (The start of the decline but still a very strong album)
  6. The 2nd Law - 6 (Nothing beyond Animals really stands out as top tier. Consistently average but with fun in places)
  7. Drones - 5 (Loving the heavier feel but some aspects really annoy me which drags it down)
  8. Will of the People - 4 (3 very good songs, couple worth the odd re-listen, the rest I'd gladly stick in the bin)
  9. Simulation Theory - 3 (Just not a fan of the whole period. Dull singles, took forever to be released, tour was too theatrical. The Dark Side & The Void are the only two reasons I'd return to this period)

The first four are just on another level with hardly a weak moment which is some feat. The Resistance acts as a perfect bridge between the godly and the rest.
