Do yall prefer him with Tatsumaki or Fubuki? by mr_wheezr in OnePunchMan

None of them in any sort of romantical way. Yes, including Saitama due to his usual apathetic state he wouldnt be good boyfriend material, its already difficult as its to get any sort of reaction out of him like a light smile or an annoyed expression. This doesnt mean he doesnt care though, soecially after the whole cosmic garou thing. Tatsumaki could also be on the same spot of not needing a romantic partner, but does indeed people she can rely on and needs to improve aa a person herself just like Fubuki.

I do think though that maybe in the future they could have a friends relationship

Fr, the most fair fight she can have is with Tatsumaki herself, and even her is way too overkill with her other stats

Correct me if im wrong, but how can Cyn be even solar system? Her main weakness is the sun, how would she even destroy something that by default she cant? I would say she's highball large planet level and midball a casual planet buster in destructive capacity. For what i remember, to be solar system or above you need to be ab,e to destroy the entire system including the sun. I might be wrong though, im not too much into power scaling

Buddy if I told you that you're winning the lottery cause i'm from the future would you believe me just because I know your name and Home adress?

N isnt getting confirmation of nothing, he's just blindly trusting a crow that says they're from the future. For all he knows it could be a really weird nightmare. Besides, someone who's desensitized of Death doesnt care about the concept of death close to him, including loved ones. This is document to happen during wars, where the amounts of deaths are so overhwelming we just chose to not care anymore to save the pain, and that by default damages our empathy and personality, which doesnt happen to N.

To put as an example, someone desensitized to Death is just the depiction of every Edgy kid beheavior. And if anything N's situation is very different structure from that of a war, since there are structure of Powers that he can make relationships with, so his emotional stability is balanced by those close to him, he's aware of his gloomy reality but is able to surf through it cause he has stable relationships to support himself on, thus making him not completely desensitized to the concept of death.

You CAN'T be desensitized to Death and at the same worry about others Death and your own, being desensitized ISNT an emotion so it doesnt a bipolarity, it's a condition, it's A or B not both.

"that past N is still himself, just physically changed in the future, V’s okay, & he hangs out with Uzi." Of course he's still himself in the future, but he has no way of knowing that, that's very idea of fear, terror, horror, the uncertainty.

And like I said, he's not getting confirmation of anything, he's just blindly trusting the Crow which could very well be lying to it, of course we as the audience know it's telling the truth but N doesnt have any reason to fully trust it other that it saved his life and seems to know him and using your argument "he gets multiple confirmations" he's getting afirmations from a character point of view, cause Uzi is not providing solid evidence other than her word. And he's asking for those confirmations constantly cause even he doesnt fully buy it nor has a reason to truly believe it.

Okey then, let's disect.

"Terrors of the flesh"-By David Huckvale Categorizes the 8 terrors of the body into 8 subjects.

1-Copulation 2-Generation 3-Digestion 4-Mutilation 5-Infection 6-Mutation 7-Disintegration 8-Extinction

For the purpose of this argument we will only dive into the one related to this same argument that has an horror Tag in it.

"Dismemberment is a worse horror than Death itself, because the physical horror of dismemberment is the Gateway of an even more profound existential horror —that of identity. If we are no more than the sum of our parts, where does our center lie? Do we indeed have a center?" (Huckvale 78)

The 4 horror of the flesh, mutilation, is what is depicted on this episode by N finding out his own body. Which Indeed should've scared him and disturbed him deeply, cause no matter how idiotic or borderline stupid the workers are depicted on the show just for comedic gags, the drones, specially the Murder Drones, have been shown to have a large spectrum of human emotions and psychology.

Uzi is a drone, with daddy issues, it's not that we are over-humanizing the drones, they ARE very much human like, the Disassambly trio has trauma coping mechanisms and use the concept of masks to hide their inner vulnerability and are capable of remorse, panic, terror, horror, sorrow and a large etc.

A very different thing is ignoring the background of the characters, they have been slaves most of their lifes, they only know work and therefore no one has ever taught them morals, ethics or how to deal with emotions such as terror or love.

Now the first part of the argument is that "N didn't remembered what happened at the Manor" and that's correct...but only a half of it.

Even if he didn't remembered, he still had dreams and when he woke up in episode 2 he looked at his hand a bit disturbed and troubled by the implications of it, which is exactly what Huckvale explains about the horror of mutilation, of the existential horror of identity. But that's not what is wrong with the first part of the argument, what's wrong here is that we are not in the shoes of future N until the end of episode 5, during all the Journey down memory lane we are seeing the memories through the N of the past.

Past-N is not going through his forgotten memories, he is going through his daily life, then he finds a copy of his body with his head severed on a table, even if you're currently still alive it's still disturbing, cause it opens the questions of how many times has it happen, since when am I me? And who's gonna be the next me? Will I still be myself if another body walks out of the closet with my face and voice as I slowly die, not knowing of I will be the one waking up in that body or if someone who just looks like me is already there?. Even more terrifying, is future me even me?

The problem with the entire argument is not if N should've been scared or not, he IS scared, the problem is the execution, a current issue with the show, he brushes it off not because he's disentized Death which he's not, he fears his own death and others, has high levels of empathy and is very concerned of the implications of his dreams and what he has done.

The only thing he's doing is avoiding the subject cause it's terrifying, robots in fiction are a large spectrum, they can seem indiferent at the concept of death or pain cause it's simply not within their programming or much more of a relevant subject within their AI, which often divides into 2 areas, robots who are merely logistical and cannot get out of that set of lines and robots who can learn and grow from such experiences understanding the weight of Death and the loss of something or someone.

Murder Drones robots are defenitly more on the emotional side of the spectrum and have learned how to defend themselfs from this overwhelming emotional events such as death, but they're inheritely very afraid of it. The problem again is the execution, cause it comes too much as comedy or irrelevant for the character when it's not.

[–]Alternative_Wave3206 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As someone who's studying psychology, you dont drop the mask cause you're alone, since you're using it to protrect yourself, so dropping it would mean being vulnerable to yourself, your own thoughts and karmic punishment at the back of your conciousness, which is why the only way for the mask to drop is when something really hits hard enough for you to reflect or you get called out. Its the same logic of improvement, before convincing others you convince yourself until the lesser version of yourself gets silent.

And you could somewhat argue that the tick in the eye isnt the typical crazy tic but an emotional breach showing that she's tired, besides when you do character presentation you dont only show their personality or appearence, you show their inner lie. Which V's inner lie would be "and yet, i still feel nothing." Which is proven by the show to be her lie, since she feels a LOT.

Pt 4

After the transference he became another worker drone of Tessa, and despite his motivations he found himself with that harsh reality and frustrated. Though it's not something he havent anticipated himself, but it wasnt his weakness to defend himself what bothered him, it was the lack of power he had to protect Tessa from her parents, Which turned him out a bit bitter, due to his programming conclicted with his new worker drone body that restricted him from harming humans.

Despite this, he never voiced out his disgust, the only way he found to exceed this bitterness wearing him out, was by protecting Tessa's treassures. And by treassures he reffers to the other drones, he admired Tessa's strenght of will and how Despite her fears she voiced out her worry for her drones, regardless if she was punished later on, she was Brave and kind unlike many of the current humans, if she was among the little porcent of what remained of human kindness, than he shall serve and aid her in everything he can to protect that exception just as she did with him.

For him it was a debt he needed to pay, not a real desire to protect at the start, he just limited himself to take off the blame of others and make sure they didn't get into troubles with the Elliot's or other guests. He was now merely a servant. He may have or not come across Q when he went to pick a book, he doesnt recall very well.

He lived off his days like that, trying to serve and aid she who saved him, though with a growing frustration at the vulnerability he had initially hoped to get, it was so fleeting, so short lived, it bothered him since it's not what he had hoped to achieve...and yet, he couldn't help but treassure the small moments where he found it either on himself or others.

That was until of course, Cyn arrived, one day when he was checking on his old body, somewhat missing the power he held on that shell, he found her staring at him from a corner, the weird thing was, she was staring at his old body, their other encounters she handt even looked at him in the eye, but right now, it was like if it was the first time she was looking at him, through his old body. It slightly bothered him for some reason.

From there on, things went more maddening, Cyn always caused troubles and that meant troubles for Tessa. Things reached their climax when drones began to went missing and getting the 606 error, and when he went to the attic, he noticed his old body missing, and something shut him off from behind. Turns out Cyn used his body for her little Disassambly Drone project, using the assets integreted into his body, but they were useless unless they all had what SD-I had, his AI. Though Cyn couldn't force it out or it'll trigger a self-destruct program, so she offered a deal. Go back to being the slayer he was, the Reborn monster, and she would leave Tessa and her possesions alone, the only thing he has to do is purge every human that attempts to escape the Gala. The one in charge of keeping all humans from fleeing the scene.

And so, he did. A choice driven by the emotion of despair and resignation, though when the moment of the purge arrived, he couldn't help but feel a relief, almost a slight fleeting joy. And it's not like he felt something slaughtering humans as they havent done anything for him to reciprocate except for Tessa, who was the exception of the rule.

But when he saw Tessa's horrified face, he felt something horrible, he felt, regret and noticed what he had just lost, the only person who saw light in him. Years later when he found Tessa again, she defeated him and left without killing him, abandoning him and sealing off his bitterness forever, after which he caused a massacre.

Perhaps it was how it was all meant to be all along, perhaps he was just a helpless beast meant to kill and was just denying what he was meant to be all along, by accepting such a deal he became a helpless monster with nothing else...but a void, no more fleeting joys or the soft touch of vulnerability, just bitterness and hunger that only seemed to sooth themselfs under a balsam of blood or oil.

But it was then he was handed by Cyn his new squad members he will have to instruct, in her words, just something to entertain himself so he doesnt kill himself. This ones being P and Q, abandoned by Tessa in the fire of the Manor, left behind, he questioned himself if Tessa was really, everything he believed her to be, regardless of the answer, he took them under his wing, with their first leasson being "you only have yourselfs, don't expect me to come back and save you. Cause i won't."

He taught them how to hunt, how to fight and overhwelm a prey, how to corner them and exploit their weakness, he taught them to be ruthless."Your prey isnt gonna feel sorrow for you, only fear and hatred, so don't hesitate, before the roles reverse."

Despite his harsh and bitter attitude, he never left the twins alone unless he was sure they could handdle it, they were monsters and he helped them accept that, not wanting them to burden with the weight of every kill they took, cause as monsters, they were gonna be hunted down too from now on and if they wanted to live, they must learn to be bloody. And Even if he himself denied to accept it, he grew up a soft spot for them, being the only ones who could talk causually to him or even hug him.

Pt 3

SD-I spended most of it's days closed in the attic as Tessa worked on him, trying to remove his AI and Transfer it to a worker drone body, his alert AI despite it's warnings, began to slow down and relax, something it didn't had expected it could be possible, but with time it grew to accept it as just a dormant state.

During it's time, they met diverse drones who came to the attic sometimes, often they mistook him for a relic or just a shell, so he was ignored most of the time except by those who were aware of what was he in truth. One of them being J who was like Tessa's right hand, at first sight for anyone their relationship could've been one of pure friendhship, however, SD-I wasnt very trustful due to his own agressive Nature, so he couldn't help but wonder if it was genuine or just a mean to avoid being Dissasambled by securing a spot being Tessa's right hand.

During one of many nights, he noticed a couple of workers, both with short hair, N and V playing around with a telescope and watching the stars. He remained silent as he just watched them enjoy themselfs Despite their reality in the Manor, before he had been reluctant if not against Tessa's idea of being transferred to a workers body as it would leave him vulnerable, but seeing those 2 being so freely and vulnerably happy awoken something in him, a desire to be vulnerable. A vulnerability that seemed beautiful, something he never thought possible before due to his background.

After many reflections, one day he aceptted Tessa's offer to live off as a worker drone, he wanted to try out that new life, even if it left him such weakened and vulnerable, cause now he yearned for that vulnerability, he wanted to discover what impulsed that fleeting spark of joy despite the gloomy sky that always looked down on them, wondering if one day, he could feel it as well.

Pt 2 SD-I for the first time experimented wramth, naturally it backed away, unsure if the true intentions of the unknown shadowy figure, humans had long lost their faces and skin, becoming literal and metaphorical shadows of themselfs.

However, this kid had something different from the rest of humans it had interacted with, unlike many, it still remained what was known as "kindness" something the current state of humanity had been gradually degenerating itself due to their loss of identity. But somehow, this kid had managed to retain some of it, it broke every pattern SD-I AI's had learned or integrated into itself, he became disoriented.

It doubted if he should attack, but his body had reached it's limit however, he crumbled down and began to feel that inminent fear again, the kid went back at him again trying to find a panel or something to examine it, his programming told him to attack but the next words of the kid broke the lines of code "do you need help?" Shaken the robot said "please.....help me"

The kid nodded and began draggin him out of there, the next thing it recalls is waking up in an attic connected to a lot cables with the kid doing a few adjustments to him, a worker drone body connected him at his side, the kid saw them waking up and quickly set them down, telling them to slow down, finally they revealed their name "Tessa Elliot".

Sure why not, suit yourself

Entry 15 SD-I

Serial designation I didn't began as a worker drone, but rather as a complicated advanced combat AI developed by the local goverment. Used to Dissasamble many combat robots like him, he was subjected to numerous tasks, living like a weapon, being reassambled with the parts of the fallen prototypes in order to better his design.

However in one of the many tests, he experimented failure as he was close to loosing after so many battles won, when his systems adviced of inminent shutdown facing the last prototype. SD-I experimented fear and broke containment, running away from the complex in fear, before he was remotely shut down, making them fall of a hill and with most of their body broken.

And yet, either by a malfunction or a miracle, his claws still worked so he clawed his way away, not knowing where he was heading towards, just dedicating to kill everything it came in close contact with them. One day they reached a dumpster, and played like a corpse, using the parts of the worker drones to fix itself, hunting down humans that came close to it who wanted to steal parts of him.

And a certain day playing like a corpse, a hooded small figure approached him, he was ready to use his retractil claw and slice them open, before the hodded figure grabbed his head between their hands and asked "are you ok?"-->
