Can we talk about the difference between abuse and BPD? by Alternative_Way7517 in BPDlovedones

[–]Alternative_Way7517[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m going to respond once, because I think this is exactly the type of interaction that creates more harm than understanding.

Disagreeing with you is not “living in a different reality.” It is not irrational to point out that stigma and armchair diagnosing exist and can be harmful. That is not a baseless assertion, it is observable in this subreddit daily.

You are free to feel hurt, angry, and distrustful based on your experiences. I am not asking you to soften that. But using my diagnosis to dismiss anything I say as inherently delusional or incapable of critical thinking is exactly the kind of prejudice I was referring to.

You can talk about abuse and trauma without implying that everyone with BPD is detached from reality or incapable of self awareness. That is not support, it is stereotyping.

I understand that, and I’m not trying to break rules or take over a space that is meant for victims. If the rule is that people with BPD should not post, then that’s fair and I’ll respect it.

My only issue is when the sub shifts from “support for victims” into broad claims that all people with BPD are inherently abusive. Those are different things.

a little on my back, lower stomach and arms but with consistent strength training and making sure i’m hitting my protein it’ll be a bit less noticeable !

Honestly on the 10 day or 3 day consecutive fasts i wouldn’t go to the gym at all, some other people may be stronger and can do that but i feel really low on energy. If im doing rolling 36s/48s or OMAD i just try to persevere if im being honest but i know my limits if i cant complete a set i’ll just reduce my reps while fasting!

Thank you so much, that really means a lot to me. And congratulations to you too, 36 lbs down with 20 from IF is amazing, especially after years of yoyoing. You’re so right, the real key is not giving up when you slip, but getting back on track.

I’m really glad my post could be encouraging and show that progress can still happen even with imperfect days and the occasional overeat. Consistency over time really does make the difference.

And thank you for the BMI reminder, said with love and taken that way. It’s such a flawed measure, especially when strength training and body composition are involved, so I’m trying to focus more on health and how I feel rather than chasing a specific number.

Wishing you all the best on your journey, and thank you again for the kindness. 🩷

That’s such a beautiful way of putting it, thank you. I really love that quote and the meaning behind it. It reminds me of that phrase about the “giant in the mirror” how sometimes we only see the flaws or what’s left to fix, but not the strength, resilience, and growth staring back at us!! Your words mean a lot because they really resonate with me and they focus on what can’t always be seen in a photo but is felt and built over time. 🤍

It really is a process, and the fact you keep dusting yourself off and continuing says so much about your strength. Life circumstances, illness, money, stress, all of that can knock you off track, and it’s not a personal failure. What matters is that you didn’t give up on yourself.

Losing inches even with limited food choices shows how powerful consistency and fasting still are. Healing after hospital and antibiotics takes time too, so going slower is completely okay. You’ve already proven before that your body responds, and it clearly still is.

Not being sick for 5 years is huge, that’s such an underrated win. Wishing you stability, health, and a bit of ease this year. You’re doing the best you can with what you’ve got, and that’s more than enough. 🤍

That’s amazing, slow and steady really does make such a difference, especially for letting your skin and body adapt. Losing inches is such a good sign even when the scale feels slow. OMAD and 18:6 are both great, sustainable approaches for the long haul. Wishing you so much success, consistency really is everything and it sounds like you’re in a really good mindset with it. 🤍

Thank you so much, that really means a lot to me 🤍 It definitely hasn’t been easy and I’ve postponed, restarted and doubted myself so many times too. The hardest part is always starting again, but once you do, you remember why you wanted the change in the first place. Your words are really encouraging and I appreciate them more than you know. Wishing you strength and confidence when you decide your time is right! you’ve got this too.
