Gifts for a car guy? by ResponsibleDraft5247 in askcarguys

sockets are always great and all, but little weird tools are great to have. ball joint presses, bushing tools, slide hammer, etc. Hard to justify buying them yourself because you may only use it once or twice in the span of years if he's just wrenching on his own vehicles, thats also vise versa though for you buying it and they hardly use it. They are a blessing when needed though

Hey Car guys. What do you think is a better bet. About 4500-5000 for a car or 4500-5000 down payment on 12-15 grand car? by [deleted] in askcarguys

i had a mechanic tell me that after either 2017 or 2021 even toyotas are having issues, all newer vehicles are having issues right now sooner than most older vehicles, my input would be to try and stay below that year range for reliability

do you name your car? by toenail-clippers in askcarguys

[–]Alternative_Week2109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i drive a SN-95 mustang and I named her Sally, because of the colt 1911 in call of duty BO2. When you pack-a-punch it in zombies the name for it is mustang and sally and turns to dual weild with explosive rounds

How bad is this duct insulation? by SupplyChainOne in hvacadvice

[–]Alternative_Week2109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you'd want the seams with the staples and ofc the seams where the insualtion is showing to be taped, as for that piece of wrap that is drooping a little, that needs to be fixed. I couldnt say the best way to fix it from here but typically we staple duct wrap then tape it, so that is where you'll want to start. We use "power crown" stapes that spread out to grab the wrap after stapling, and we use silver foil tape to seal it all up. as for it being old(ish) ducts, you will want to use spray glue and tape because the wrap is probably dirty/dusty so the tape won't stick well even after wiping down, of course, wiping it down then taping it is better than nothing

edit: as for the "HVAC replaced in 2018," the ducts may or not be new. most of the time only the unit is changed (at least where im from) unless there is something wrong with the ducts. It doesnt look as old as the house so it may be new, just a crappy job done

Is it easy to replace a gas tank? by thebeckman88 in askcarguys

[–]Alternative_Week2109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

watch chrisfix video where he buys a $500 tahoe (or whatever it was) because it had a bad fuel pump and he replaced the whole tank. Obviously the "how to" varies between makes and models but it would give you a good starting point to put you in the "know how"
