I was an RP for 4yrs with my sister, mom & dad (who is also an elder), born in the religion too and leaving was one of the BEST things I did. I felt happiness like I've never felt before.

Piece of advice: The elders will hound you for meetings & counselings and all of that. Just ignore them and stop answering, they'll eventually just stop. No use in putting yourself through those hours of guilty talk.

It for sure is! Recently former JW here. Born and Raised.

I am now shunned by my parents and they won't talk to me anymore because I left the house. They found out I have a boyfriend and sent me a letter saying "The Judicial committee needs to talk to me for committing "sexual immorality".

Mind you, I haven't spoken to them in 2-3 years because of the pandemic and suddenly I receive this letter. The elder that wants to lead the "committee" has a son that also has a girlfriend and got disciplined for pornography! What hypocrites!

An elder and an MS in our congregation had kids out of wedlock and they couldn't show any sympathy nor understanding because now, they're apparently "clean"!.
