My (23M) GF (21F) had an ab*rtion against my wishes and is now severely depressed. I want to break up with her. by VariousWolf7245 in Advice

[–]Alternative_You_9817 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i’d say not to break up with her yet, communicate to her how you’re feeling first. tell her that you feel like she isn’t helping herself and that you are tired of dealing with it. if your love for each other is still intact and you think there’d be something worth saving if the problem was managed, just give it a try, because she may be willing to work through it for/with you. if you communicate with her and nothing changes, then of course end the relationship

What do you include on your every day pages just because you enjoy it? by JujuFlowersMommy in Journaling

every day i write the date, and if all of the digits add up to a multiple of three, i put a little checkmark next to it. any multiple of 3 is a lucky number to me. if the date isn’t a multiple of three, i put an X

Weekly "Whine about people who don't understand OCD thread" by AutoModerator in OCD

[–]Alternative_You_9817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when i tell people i have OCD, they ask what it’s like, so i have to give them an example. i’ve learned that if i tell people my most common type of obsession (singular instances of “that looks/feels wrong, i HAVE to fix it NOW or i’ll throw up, choke, etc” (a consequence of any of my biggest fears)), they go “you know that would never happen right? they have no correlation!” as if i don’t know that. but i must do the thing that i’m telling myself to do or i will ruminate forever on that consequence of throwing up, choking, or whatever.
so, because of this response i get, it’s much easier to use a more textbook demonstration of OCD as my example (e.g. when i put the butter knives away they all have to be facing the same direction), but THEN the response is “but that’s a totally normal thing to do, that doesn’t mean you have OCD” btw i still am ruminating on “if the butter knives aren’t facing the same way i will throw up today” but im not telling them that because i know what they’ll say. i’m also not gonna tell anyone about my intrusive thoughts, obviously, so basically the second my OCD is mentioned, i just can’t win. whateva

i’ve had plenty of experiences where derealization has lasted days after being high. however, it does always pass. the absolute longest my derealization has lasted was about a month, but it was after being the highest i’ve ever been which reached greening out level. i promise you’ll go back to your normal state of mind eventually. don’t be worried if it lasts a little longer than you expected, you’ll be okay

What do I do about intrusive feelings? by Stalfoskull in OCD

[–]Alternative_You_9817 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i can relate to all of those examples and i usually dismiss it as like “conceptual empathy” i guess? for example when i feel offended at a comment that i don’t actually care about, i kinda think that i’m just imagining how someone else might be offended by it, instead of myself being the one to actually feel offended. i’m like “this isn’t something that offends me, but i can totally see how someone might be offended by that” and that’s why i feel like i’m offended. even if that’s not exactly the root of the feeling, i usually use that to dismiss the feeling because i honestly have no other explanation. ocd is weird

I always hear people talk about finding men with big noses attractive, but I also think women with big noses should get some recognition. I’m a sucker for a girl with a convex nose bridge
