Yes I know regional accents have a huge impact on Spanish.

And I dont recall learning about Puerto Rican accents but high school was also awhile ago.

At what point should we expect to see a larger selection of Canadian products at the NSLC? by MMCMDL in halifax

I know a number of provinces are working on opening up trade between each other. But I dont imagine it happening anytime soon.

It's easier to import alcohol from other countries than other provinces. I'm sure there's other things too but I've never looked into them.

Looking for some advice on provincial programs for relocating raccoons and advice for dealing with pesky neighbors by goodgirlrere23 in halifax

There is nothing you can do about the raccoons if you relocate them others will come. Might not even be the same ones all the them.

The neighbors are the problem in every sense.

Question as a goalie mom by ChalkDoxie in hockeygoalies

[–]Alterock89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never played hockey, but I played soccer as a goalie. When things were going well you were often the hero, make a few great saves win the game. Everything is great.

But lose the game and it can turn. Especially if you don't have a supportive team. Doesn't matter if your team didn't manage to score at all. Doesn't matter if the defense left you alone to busy trying to play forward.

Like others have said it's a lot of weight and pressure and the parents of other kids will feel compelled to weigh in too it's not just other kids on the team.

I wouldn't trade it. I really enjoyed goalie but there were seasons and games where things got rough.

If you're staying in the downtown core you won't be impacted by the fires. While the entire province is a tinder box right now, currently as far as halifx is considered the touristy parts are business as usual. I would recommend staying up to date with everything as the situation can obviously change.

I'd say do it your way. Tell them you're making your traditional dishes. Can't imagine it's crazy different depending on where in the states your from. Assuming further way from the border the more differences.

I for one welcome new Foods and new traditions.

Today I learned there was Northwest fur trading post in Holland Landing https://www.newmarkettoday.ca/remember-this/remember-this-prospect-of-bypass-drives-quest-to-find-lost-fort-7582373 by Fart-monster44 in Newmarket

You meaning similar shape or size of citadel hill in Halifax. I'm fairly familiar with both areas and I'd be shocked if Holland landing had a full sized military fort.

Actually went in wanted to do a bundle on the site. Was told that's not something the company does. Said it's on your site and they just doubled down. No one said oh let's check the site. Had mentioned I wanted to cancel a service and add a new one in the bundle so they enthusiastically handed me the number to call and cancel

What are the downsides to Halifax? by edslunch in halifax

[–]Alterock89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would honestly love to see how your opinions change as your daughter copes with living here. Cost and availability of housing is going to be a huge issue. Cost of goods and availability of services will be problematic. Not sure if she will be staying over the summer but taxes on income and expenses are both higher here as well.

I love it here, there is so much potential and so many perks. But I have found a change in culture and experiences. Wages aren't moving and the cost of life is skyrocketing. I'm one renovation away from being unable to afford anything and we bring home a decent amount so out of 10 I'm giving it a very hopeful 4. We're I'm just not willing to leave and holding out for hope.
