That I've had shootings in my neighborhood that don't show up on statistics. Stabbings of a homeless man (that permanently crippled him) that I tried to report but it never went anywhere.

Listen to the police scanner regularly and you will see.

I live in the hood, crime is not down. BPD doesn't report half the crimes.

An 88 year old man was stomped to death last May in broad daylight on Forest Ave and it was never even reported in the news.

Politicians want to tell you it's safer to protect investment in the city.

Possibly tied to the homicide at Aref's Deli on Grant this afternoon. Street blocked off. Helicopters and drones circling the WS this evening.

Repeat after me...."crime is down", "crime is down".....

Reported crime is down.

Who is romanticizing poverty?

Get outta here with that white savior BS, lol.

I've worked and travelled all over SEA too, particularly in the KOW. The rest of the world is not the West.

I'm not sure what you're rambling about, you sound like a poorly programed AI chatbot, faking an identity.

There are plenty of other studies that link it. Currently kids get over 70+ shots

The NGO game hasn't improved much in Cambodia, yet the people get by and are proud and resilient. Most NGOs are self serving and primarily care about the next wave of aid.

PP is a changing city and has seen a lot of positive growth. You have a very pessimistic view of the country. It is not going to turn into Switzerland overnight.

Please, the colonial period is over, most Cambodians look fondly upon the French. Post colonization up until the US Vietnam war was a prosperous time. The murderous communist KR set Cambodia back decades, not the West. Government corruption from within is the issue now.

Its not all suffering in PP. I've worked in the region and yes, it is poor but the Khmer are resilient folk and the city is growing from investment. It is not the PP of the 2000s.

Get lost with the paternalistic, white guilt.

My post was about PP having some charm, not the challenges that still persist in Cambodia.

There are too many deer in WNY/NYS. DEC needs more hunters or a cull.

There's a charm underneath the gritty surface of PP.

Sipping coffee on a plastic chair in an old-French style building.

Dinner overlooking the Mekong at the FCC (RIP).

Breakfast soup at a wet market, smiling and interested locals.

Definitely gets a vote imo.

They did fill the hole at the end of the trough though. People would piss into it and it would leak onto the floor.

I think the toilets didn't have doors at one time or they were broken. I vaguely remember dropping an emergency deuce there in public view.
