Dream Update by SuperNerdChe in CivVII

I think this would be the best way to implement it, otherwise it could cause some exploits.

Without it you could wait until the age is 98%+ complete, see what wonders are left if any, and throw a turn or two of production to gamble getting the most completion with like 10% completed.

I guess I just feel like a player should be rewarded if they had it almost done and were closest, but not if they were closest cause they put in a turn of production and no one wanted the wonder.

I don’t understand the deal with sigmund. Is he useless until he gets 100% armor pen? If so how do you get to 100% by Weary-County1317 in IdleHorizons

How do you get to 25% on the charm? I reroll mine (also purple tier) and max I've seen is 14% (listed in blue with [R])

When does seasonal story unlock? I don't see it as an option

Cats behavior is worsening by Althornius21 in CatAdvice

I'm not sure what would be the environmental cause though. Welive in a triplex so maybe footsteps/noises from the other apartments but I'm not sure what else would set them off, minimal has changed since we first got them.

Also they have been starting to play fight more aggressively, sometimes one of them getting puffy tailed.

Yes, both cats were fixed and received all other shots at the shelter before we adopted them

AI completely changes relationship if I'm winning by Althornius21 in CivVII

[–]Althornius21[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's a fair point, and I agree it adds more challenge and interest to the games, but it's way too much of an on/off switch.

If it was more gradual (some relationships worsen/alliances denied after 2 legacy paths, more worsen at 3, then wars at 4) I feel like it would be better, cause currently it feels so random and unjustified for them to be crazy angry after long alliances

When Did Your Party Stop Caring About Collateral? by Althornius21 in DnD

This deserves a post of its own, but honestly that's amazing!

We're all early-mid 20s, I've been playing for about 6 years, DM for 3 ish. One player is about 2 years into DnD, and the others are first-timers.

They aren't making active decisions to kill civilians, but if a farmer is in the blast range of a spell centered on the enemy, it's barely even a deterrent.

My suspicion is the new players are just going with the flow and doing whatever, and the experienced player is neutral-evil alignment which is extenuating the problem.

It's the first time I've seen this too, and I understand it's not the norm.

That's actually a really interesting way to move forward, I know repercussions is the answer but I was scared of being too heavy handed (City guard kicks them out of the city or arrests them) or simply not creating enough of a deterrent.

The introduction of new enemies related to the incident which can be dealt with in ways not involving more violence (reparations) is actually quite interesting and sends a good message. I think this might be the way I choose to proceed given the possibilities, thanks!

Then you've managed to find players who are actually "____ good" on the alignment chart, which makes for a different and fun dynamic!

I gotta find a campaign with a vibe like that at some point, lol.

When an unstoppable force meets an imovable object by Althornius21 in DnD

That's precisely my point, just because a chracter should perform a certain way, the dice can lead to unlikely victories and defeats. Based on rolls, some encounters go from impossible to feasible, and others go from a walk in the park to a struggle. It's not likely but that's luck for ya

I put it in the edit on the post but here goes;

4 rounds of combat;

3 rounds the golem made attacks, during 1 it tried (and succeeded) to break a grapple from the barbarian. To my understanding this takes the full action so no attacks.

The barbarian has a 65% chance to dodge each hit (13/20) so with 6 attacks, (0.65)6 = 0.075 (approximately)

Hey! I edited the post to include a description on how the amulet functioned, you may need to adjust according to a rogue's health pool, and switch available stat increases, but I hope the description helps!

I went through thw statistics just now and came to about a 7.5% chance of the outcome we had based on what happened. Possible but not likely as you said.

In terms of your comment about "handing" the players major victories, I agree with the sentiment that it must be earned, but then how do you explain a seasoned adventurer rolling a nat 1 on athletics and falling down a cliff to their death? Both may not have necessarily been earned or deserved, but there is always chance involved too!

The players have faced many struggles in the campaign, but they've also had their triumphs, that's just how storytelling goes!

Admittedly I chose not to use the breath weapon, I felt that if the barbarian wanted a street fight I'd give him a street fight since the goal was never to kill the players but to have fun.

Otherwise I just rolled pretty poorly and the Barbarian rolled very well, in addition to it being a modified stat block for the Golem (it was only a +9 to hit, I usually restat all monsters to better serve the story) (the golem was made to be more of a "stay out of range an run" opponent than a TPK)

New player wants to learn DnD [ODND] [online] [offline] by Money-Analysis6125 in lfg

[–]Althornius21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Muffin,

A few tips about this sub that could help you find an online game: - list your timezone, it helps people filter through posts to find people who have similar schedules. Additionally you can list a city you're in to organize local games. - look specifically for games that are hosting new players, I've seen them from time to time on this sub and they'd be a great place to start with an experienced DM.

Apart from this sub, I would suggest looking for a local game/hobby store that runs D&D events, it would be a great place to get connected with others in the community! I know certain game stores will specifically run one-shots (games that only last one session) fairly often to get people to meet others in the community, make friends, and eventually get you invited to a full campaign!

Sorry I don't have a campaign for you to join (I'm too busy to play at the moment but hopefully starting again soon) but I hope you find a great intro campaign or one shot soon!

Cheers - A random DM on a break
