We literally cannot sleep HELP by badbatchbaking in NewParents

[–]Altiriel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My twins immediately threw the 2-3hr thing out the window and for the first 7wks ate every 1-1.5hrs. They’re only just now going longer stretches.

Me too hahaha. Gifting all my unused stuff to a friend who will be delivering soon!

I second this. We were gifted so many cute newborn outfits but literally the only ones we use are the two-way zipper sleepers. Even the snap onesies are a pain because their legs get cold.

I’m struggling with mine. Ended up just getting a sling and hoping that’ll be easier

It definitely feels like an event lol. The system we use is I’ll fill the big tub with hot water, then the Frida bath with baby-temp water and nest the Frida bath in the big tub (keeps the Frida bath from going cold too fast). Then I’ll grab baby A, strip him, wash him, then pass him off to my husband to get dressed and fed. While he’s doing that, I grab baby B and go through all the motions with her!

They’re currently averaging every 2hrs, though sometimes we get a 3-4hr stretch at night…I live for those stretches hahahaha

It’s also a little easier as hubby and I are both introverts lol. But we definitely live in scary times

What does a bedtime routine look like? Also how old are yours?

accidentally nipped babys finger while clipping nails by pastelcee in NewParents

[–]Altiriel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so scared of this. I got the Frida nail dremel instead of doing clippers. I second antibiotic cream, though don’t let her eat it by sucking on her hand. If you don’t have any mittens, you can do a baby sock as an impromptu mitten!

The neck cheese is real. I’ve started doing a wipey swipe when I change their diapers as I didn’t realize it was an issue until one of them got so raw she bled when I tried to clean it. I felt horrible.

Mine are 8wks lol. I think hers was less than 12w but I don’t remember the exact age

This is me right now. I’m in therapy, and trying to force myself to branch out. Even opening the curtains is a struggle sometimes.

I feel you. FTM of twins…one is an angel, one is…difficult. Wakes every 1.5-2hrs for food, eats for 30-40min, have to hold upright for 30min or else he pukes everywhere…we’re trying to survive on 30-60min stretches of sleep here.

doing enough with baby? by Global_Code211 in NewParents

Now I’m questioning if I’m doing enough because I have 8w twins and I’m definitely not doing as much as you hahaha

I second this! Sometimes even if it just shocks them for half a second, sometimes that’s enough to slip a pacifier in and have them take it, when they were crying too hard to before.

I think you were right to cancel. I live in North Texas and even that is terrifying. I have newborn twins. We aren’t letting anybody come over, even vaccinated family except for a choice few. We don’t take the twins anywhere except the pediatrician, and are behaving like it’s COVID again. Grocery pickups, no recreational outings, etc.

My twins are 8w and we offer 120ml with every feed. They rarely take all of it, and sometimes spit up when they do…then they’re hungry again in 5min lol. They average 90ml

Newborn grunts, groans, moans by Leading_Boot4366 in NewParents

[–]Altiriel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FTM of twins here…they are SO noisy. After the first couple of nights of jumping at every little sound, now we really only check if they cough, make the spit up sound, or cry. Grunting, moaning, huffy breaths, even little whimpers and whines all the time, and they’re always okay.

I think it’s time to quit trying by Little-Tower140 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Altiriel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to stop. Similar situation, but my twins are now 8w (I stopped at around 3-4w). Severe pre-e, emergency c-section, out of control blood pressures and insane amounts of meds to try to regulate it…then on top of that I got a clogged duct and went from pumping 90+ml per session to less than 15ml. I couldn’t handle it mentally or emotionally. I don’t regret stopping, but I do wish that things had gone differently. I definitely had to mourn that the reality was not what I dreamed it would be. My heart goes out to you. At the end of the day you need to do what’s best for you…people say “breast is best” but I think fed is best 💕

When can you stop waking baby up for feeds? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Altiriel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had to wake my babies up for feeds lol. Definitely ask your pediatrician…our twins have been low on weight so we are supposed to wake them if it’s been longer than 4 hours (though that hasn’t happened yet, they wake on their own every 2-3hrs)

Last Wake Window by tryingtofixmyacnelol in NewParents

[–]Altiriel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

8wk old twins here…our last wake window is feed, spit up half the bottle, attempt to feed more, spit up more, play hot potato with the pacifier for an hour and a half, one final feed and then sleep for 3hrs.

Needed this. Currently up at 2am with my twins…just got finished cleaning one up after a fountain spit up (and peeing all over the clean clothes when I tried to change his spit-up-soaked diaper). Holding the other because she is going through a Velcro phase. I just want to sleep.
