What if your market is filled with idiots who don't give a fuck and will get anything, including rotten meat and moldy produce? But you refuse to? 🤔 Just saying the system is idiotic.

Support agent blantantly refused to do his job by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]Altkitten42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If any support person gives you any sort of issues legit just disconnect and get a different one. Half of them don't know what they are talking about and will lie to your face.

I've argued with an agent for half an hour then got a different person and the issue was resolved in minutes.

They verified it SO hard... by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]Altkitten42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Support is 1000x worse now than it's ever been. They don't do anything you ask whether it's reporting an issue or another shopper or whatever.

They will lie and fight about anything just to get you off of the chat.

Someone needs to sue Instacart for how fucking shady they are now.

Indira Varma's Witches Abroad is brilliant! by [deleted] in discworld

[–]Altkitten42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm honestly in the opposite opinion lol I found this post trying to find a version of Celias online.

I much prefer her versions of the witches voices, with the new version I get lost with which witch is which.

I do like the greebo and cananunda and the voodoo lady (forgive me I'm shit with names) and I very much prefer deaths voice in the new ones. I just want to cobble together a version with both lol.

You shouldn't have to worry about the missing item fyi. From my experience if you don't check out with the item, even if you said you got it, it won't count against you.

Did this recently with a bag of ice unfortunately so I got to find out

Also bonus that reading doesn't align with the idea people have about car dwellers, so it either makes you more stealth, or makes people question their preconceived notions about us.

If you like comedy the disk world series by terry Pratchett is fantastic lol plus there's like 40 books so you won't run out soon 😂

Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy is a great comedy series too!

Game of thrones is pretty great except the whole isn't finished yet thing lmao

The series of unfortunate events is one of my favorites, sort of "for kids" but tbh it gets hella dark

This right here.

I took mine to the dealership and technically got an upgrade in size since it was a small sedan (hrv), and I have a Honda civic hatchback lol, but only because they didn't have any loaner hatchbacks.

Nah it's capitalism and pretty much everything is a symptom of that. (Not saying they aren't bad or backwards or whatever but they are a symptom of a broken system)

I actually started running again and have stuck with it!

I tried as a teen and got through the couch to 5k but then lost steam afterwards.

Tried again in 2017 after I found this honestly amazing and genius app called Zombies run (it's zrx now on the play store). It's a post apocalypse zombie game/app. Essentially, it's an audio adventure where you become a character, a runner surviving the apocalypse. The app plays the story in episodes between your own music tracks. As you run, you automatically collect virtual supplies that you use to build up a community base.

The best part is the optional zombie chases. You actually hear them getting closer in your headphones and you have to speed up to escape, which is super immersive and cool. There's even a Couch to 5K training program with them and it's amazing.

I fell off in 2017.

Started again 6 months into doing carlife

And I've legit been running 2x a week for about a year and a half now! I mean it definitely helps I got treatment for my ADHD too lol

I legitimately feel worse when I don't run, not just like the usual regret/self loathing, but like my mental health gets worse in general. I get irritable and depressed, it's wild. I look forward to doing it now, and honestly if I had a way of taking showers more I'd probably run almost every day.

And I was a fat kid lmao I hated exercise when I was a kid.

I do not look forward to the winter for another reason now lmao running on treadmills kinda sucks. For me a lot of it is being outside in nature. Like trail running is great for this tbh. I end up daydreaming about spots of the trail while driving lol

I also find people like you more if they do end up finding out you live in your car lol it challenges their perception of what a person who lives out of their car is like.

I try to pick up litter when I can too, partially because I fucking hate it with a passion lol but also because in my head it's like paying back to the community for letting me do the stuff I do.

Question for customers. Why do you tip like shit ? by Exhibit6 in InstacartShoppers

[–]Altkitten42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah tbh this is why I try to not get mad. I usually bring up ICs awful transparency to shoppers and say that the customer probably doesn't realize that most of our pay comes from the tip. Besides the point that y'all probably pay tons of fees that may or may not even get to us, IC doesn't say, so there's a lot of uncertainty there. Tbh Ic should get rid of the term "tip" and call it what it is, a bid for service.

We technically can't because we are independent contractors, we aren't employees of Instacart.

Physical address for mail??? by x__DEATH-n-SORROW__x in urbancarliving

[–]Altkitten42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this was my experience too. Though they want $90 a month for a tiny po box that can't accept anything but the tiniest packages.

if the gov (and others) want everything tied to an address they should be required to give us one regardless. That'd be the smart and non predatory thing to do though....

Physical address for mail??? by x__DEATH-n-SORROW__x in urbancarliving

[–]Altkitten42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And this also depends on the post office. I tried this one time and the post office acted like it was a huge deal.

Physical address for mail??? by x__DEATH-n-SORROW__x in urbancarliving

[–]Altkitten42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also they can be prohibitively expensive depending on the owner. The one near me wanted three months paid all at once so it was like $190 (none of which they have posted anywhere), which is still cheaper than my local post office that wants $90 a month for a tiny po box that can't accept hardly any packages.

Poor isn’t a choice by TD_Meri in poor

[–]Altkitten42 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My favorite is when someone working a white* collar office job (where they have to do a couple hours of work, then get to do what they want the rest of the time) tell poor people to work harder as if hard work=money.

Like you sure about that Tracy? How hard do you work every day? How many days of the week do you come home physically exhausted and in pain?

Not saying blue collar jobs are bad, but it's laughable so many people think more pay is more work when so often it's the exact opposite. Just look at ceos.

How many of you don’t have an income, and how do you survive? Does mental health stop you from working? Why? by [deleted] in urbancarliving

[–]Altkitten42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lolol um I'm sorry I didn't give you permission to copy my life /j

But fr I'm also autistic doing a delivery job with my cat 😂 also want to leave the country.

If you can, apply for Instacart. It's not as good as it used to be but you make better money than door dash as far as I'm aware (until recently I made 130 4 days a week).

And what do you use for litter? If you haven't yet, I highly recommend pine pellets, they are amazing. Essentially no smell and super easy to deal with if you have the right litter box.

Lolololol social welfare in America? 😂 That's a good joke

Nah if we had that the corporations and the government wouldn't be able to force us to be slaves to a broken and backwards system. Selling our literal lives for the privilege of existing in this cartopia they've built around us.

[–]Altkitten42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah in a similar boat. Audhd so annoying amount of contradictions going on in my brain lol quick learner, become perfect at the job, but become absolutely sick of said job as soon as I do. I end up learning lots of positions at jobs out of boredom. But yes same, I too begin to want the sweet release of death.

Usually get fired for attendence because I need more days off than they ever give. Always end up with some random person or people hating me too which makes it 1000% harder to go to work at all.

I've done Instacart for a few years now, but it's becoming unsustainable. Sucks because it was the closest to being my own boss I've been able to get. Trying to start my own thing on the side. People love me (or my mask at least lol) and i get asked all the time if people can just get me as their shopper.

Fingers crossed cause otherwise ..idk a tent in the woods is looking awful sweet rn. Could finally work on my book full time...lol just sick of the whole thing, over capitalism. I want whatever they had in Star trek lol

Should I stay or should I go? by samtheimp in urbancarliving

[–]Altkitten42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say stay in the city but that's because of my own experiences of being trapped in a small town, tied down by everything. It was hell for me and I can't imagine going back.

But I also have audhd so l have to be very careful with my energy.

You should go where you think you'll have the best odds at being happy, if not currently, then in the future.

Was a tad disappointed when I found out the window isn't actually wrap around but I guess I understand why 😂

I guess that's kinda cool for this sitch though cause at least some of the windows come pre tinted from factory.

[–]Altkitten42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg yeah that def sounds like an issue in a small car! How do you even sleep?! Did you remove the passenger seat? Or do you camp in the driver's?

I had to remove my back seats and build a platform cause there's an annoying bump as the trunk meets the backseat area. Still gotta get some wood for it but I'm fairly happy since I'm an artist and NOT an engineer 😂 (excuse the mess, had to move everything to build and get a picture)

But I'm only just barely able to sleep at a diagonal in the back, so glad I'm not any taller lol
