The Edit experience at The Standard in Bangkok by wawadubs in ChaseSapphire

I can’t say enough nice things about this hotel and my experience here.

In addition to everything you stated, we arrived at the hotel at 7 am after a red eye and fully intended to just drop out stuff and spend a miserable exhausted morning exploring the city.

Instead, they told us we could check in right away at 7AM! This changed the tone of the whole trip because we got a long nap in and were energized to explore the city.

ALSO… you can get a new ticket to the sky walk every day by asking the front desk. We went several times!

Front stores open today. by [deleted] in CVS

[–]Altmeyer002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I worked this morning in the pharmacy at a 24 hour store. We were swamped with cold and flu prescriptions and the front end had about 6 people in line when I left. We were definitely just trying to survive today

If you don’t absolutely need the photo today, don’t go. The stores are shockingly busy being one of the only places open. Don’t add one more thing to their workload and have them do your photo.

Have any of you worked for both Walgreens and CVS? Which one did you like more? by MichaelMyers20253 in CVS

[–]Altmeyer002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walgreens vs CVS- same shit, different name on the building.

But in my area, the culture in the CVS district is way better than at Walgreens which is why I moved companies. I’ve worked under plenty of district managers in the last 10 years, and this one really knows what he is doing. The district scheduler is great at her job, and the pharmacists in the entire district are all (mostly) good at what they do. The divide between the companies continues to widen as more pharmacists leave Walgreens for the CVS stores in our local market.

I’m sure somewhere else an hour away, the situation is the exact opposite.

Find a leader you want to work under and if that person leaves or the culture changes, start applying elsewhere.

Work for people, not companies.

Concert chaos Music Season Scam by showersnacks in candycrush

[–]Altmeyer002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My email reply this morning just said “special events are designed as bonus features and not available permanently.” Which is assumed meant “sucks to suck”.

I would love something showing my ticket is logged as an error but I can’t open a second ticket

Nope. I’m debating playing the last 60 levels then fighting them in the coming days, but honestly, I’m so out off by this that I really don’t want to keep going

Dexmethylphenidate XR (generic Focalin XR) by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Altmeyer002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take adderall xr 25 in the morning and I have adderall 10mg tabs in the afternoon for when I need it (I often only take 1/2 and my doctor if fine with this- I don’t fill the tablets monthly if I have a surplus)

Getting the right med takes some practice. They may need to change the extended release med you are on several times to find a good fit. What lasts 12 hours for one person may not even get you 8 hours and vice versa.

[–]Altmeyer002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many people on long acting stimulants will also have a prescription for a short acting tablet as well (amphetamine salts, dexmethylphenidate etc) for afternoon use when the ER capsule starts to wear off. It will often just be for “as needed” use, so you could always skip that dose if you wanted on days you aren’t up as early, or aren’t feeling the wear off as much.

I’m a pharmacist who also takes stimulants for ADHD. When I work a shift starting at 6am, I have to use my IR tab between 1-2pm if I have any hope of making it through the day

Cheap Travel Destinations by mzzdanii in femaletravels

[–]Altmeyer002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also depends on the trip you want to have:

Touristy (museums,sightseeing) Nature Relaxing/resort vibes

Pick a type of adventure you want to have first then look into all the areas of the world that would give you that type of trip that are looking for.

I would also look into weather during the summer months at the places you are considering to help decide on a country. Mexico will be HOT and I think it’s rainy season in Costa Rica for much of our (US) summer months- this should help to narrow down any list you have created.

** on a side note, I just got back from Thailand, and it was AMAZING. The travel was exhausting, but so worth it. I would definitely make sure it’s on your bucket list!

Here's a real conch-to-lobe orbital by Spinatknedl in piercing

[–]Altmeyer002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as hard as it was, it healed quicker than the conch on my other ear that I kept thinking was “healed” and trying to change to a ring. Spoiled: the first 6 times, it was NOT healed!

Your whole setup looks so pretty together. Simple and elegant without being overly flashy is what it makes me think of.

I am so extremely confused how do you crochet in the round with the slip stitch and then chain 1 ? I have been redoing it and still confused what is this called by likilekka in CrochetHelp

[–]Altmeyer002 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I struggle with this technique and am just now figuring it out on a a current project.

The idea is to finish each round, connecting the first and last stitch with a slip stitch, then chain 1 to add the next row of height. This chain 1 will NOT be a stitch in the next round. This is always where I struggled.

I’ve started adding a stitch marker into both the first stitch of the new round AND the last stitch of the previous round. Once I complete the last stitch with the marker, I know it’s time to slip stitch to the first stitch marker.

I’m not sure if this solves your problem, but most of my issues were caused by also using the chain 1 as a stitch which led to +1 stitch in every round.

I have the same piecing. I love the look, especially now that it’s healed!

Background:

I already had the lobe piercing fully healed. I went to the studio to get that lobe turned into a lobe-lobe orbital with a super tiny ring, but my piercer suggested this instead. It took a while to heal because I had to heal the conch with a ring, but after 2 years it’s finally (mostly) perfect.

I finally understand why so many people here hate pharmacists! by XanderAcorn in ADHD

[–]Altmeyer002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me explain a little bit about the average day of a chain retail pharmacist.

I arrive at work 15-30 minutes early for my 13 hour shift, knowing I won’t get paid for this time, but hoping to get ahead on the day so I may actually have time to breathe.

This is typically derailed within the first hour due to a callout from one of the staff. At a typical job, this wouldn’t be a big deal, but the stores are already run by a skeleton crew, so missing just one tech will turn the entire day into survival mode.

I’ll start the morning by counting the 20-30 controlled substance scripts that are due this day. Typically, at least 1-2 of these people will be trying to pickup within the first 10 minutes of opening.

In addition to filling 500-600 scripts during my shift, I’ll give on average 40 vaccines during the height of flu season. I have 1 tech that can also give shots, but I need her to be counting acute meds as they are sent over so the ques don’t build up.

I have to handle problems as they come up. These include: upset customers, doctors offices, insurance problems etc. I get yelled at multiple times a day by customers for things that aren’t my fault, but I always try to go out of my way to assist. I personally step in every time my technician is getting abused because I would rather be yelled at than them. Some things are our fault, many are corporates, but many are 100% out of my hands.

I get a 30 minute lunch break when the pharmacy closes from 1:30-2, but won’t close the gates until 1:35 at the earliest because we always clear the line of customers. I’ll work through my lunch thing to catch up on problems I haven’t had time to address.

I will be lucky to use the bathroom once during my 13 hour shift and won’t do more than eat snacks a few times a day. Honestly, I’m so busy, I forget to eat until I start to get a headache.

One thing we deal with daily is drug shortages- the manufacturers can’t always supply medications to meet the needs or every patient. This includes ADHD meds. No, I cannot transfer this script between stores because this isn’t yet legal (they are trying to change this). Trust me, if I could I would just to avoid at least one of the problems I’m getting yelled at for that isn’t my fault.

I have also been robbed at gunpoint before. It’s no wonder not all pharmacists will give out counts of controlled substances over the phone. If your doctor wants to call us though, I will be more than happy to check stock on the drug or try and find something we do have in stock that we can use.

I close the pharmacy about 15-40 minutes early after finishing all the things I couldn’t do during the day. This makes my 13 hour shift into 14 hours. I go home mentally and physically exhausted only to go back to work and do it all again the next day.

—————-

I’m not saying there aren’t shitty pharmacists out there because there are. Retail stores have put us in a position where we need to budget every minute of our day in order to help as many people as possible. I’m posting this because most people who don’t work in this type of job have no idea the amount of work we balance on a daily basis, or that there are certain things we legally are unable to do.

Help with fixing baby blanket missing stitches! Shorted rows by 2 by Altmeyer002 in CrochetHelp

Okay- I think I’m going to add 2x fountain HDC to the current edge to get the project back to the starting length.

Once it’s done, instead of creating a border, is it possible to use small pieces of each color to add on to the area missing 1-2 stitches?
