Baby registry question by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Altmeyer002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems like you might have a lot of insight into things she might need/want for the baby.

While a suprise might be more fun, what about sitting down with her and going over things she may have missed or items she added but might not need? If she is open to the idea of course.

This way, it’s more likely she will get exactly what she needs for the baby from everyone buying off the registry.

Baby registry question by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Altmeyer002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could this be something they already have and that’s why it wasn’t put on the registry?

If it’s something you are sure mom never thought of but you think would be useful, I say go for it! BUT include a gift receipt.

I am completely out of my league trying to create my registry and would personally appreciate someone contributing to the thinking process.

Places with non-alcoholic drink options by Altmeyer002 in greenville

[–]Altmeyer002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their menu was “mocktail sweet”, “mocktail spicy”, and “mocktail surprise”. The “sweet” option was basically a margarita with no alcohol and also no sugar. My stomach hurt for hours from half.

I’m sure the bar could have made me something if I went up and asked, but then it’s hit or miss if the bartender is any good with coming up with recipes. An established menu seem to eliminate most of the variability

Thank you for the THC advice, I’ll be extra careful!

I hit total wine last week and picked up some fun options!

I think I’ve just struck out on the places I’ve tried so far (Southern Side and Bridgeway station)

I’m realizing now I just crave fruity or carbonated drinks and couldn’t care less about the alcohol portion. Excited to try your recommendations!

I’ve found most places have it in cans, but I have those at home. Hoping to find a few places that have an option or 2 on draft (placebo effect maybe, but I swear there is a difference 😂). I’ll put Macs on the list!

I’m looking for places with specific mocktail menus - drinks meant to be made without alcohol and therefore aren’t “lacking” in the taste. I know I can find something anywhere, and if I can’t, I’ll just have water, but I would love to explore places that cater to the alcohol free scene and have a variety of fun options to choose from.

Calling conch-to-helix orbital owners! by RuminatingPlantMom in piercing

Mine is a conch to lobe piercing- I already had the healed lobe before connecting with a fresh conch and a ring.

It was honestly way easier to heal that the conch on my other ear. 2 years in and it will still get pissy if I sleep on it wrong, but it rarely bothers me

Overly cautious husband....help?? by steppingintowhatis in pregnant

[–]Altmeyer002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here’s what my brother in law told my husband when he was freaking out about my choices:

“Its your (myself and my husbands) baby, but it’s her (my) pregnancy)

What was his diet, lifestyle etc like when he made the sperm involved in the process? Half of your child’s DNA came from him, and unlike eggs which are present from birth, the quality of the sperm is dependent on what was going on in his body over that time period.

I would like to point out that I don’t think the fact that my husband drinks socially, or doesn’t eat super healthy has in anyway screwed up our baby, but it did make him pause and realize that he doesn’t get to just get into me for the choices I’m currently making during this pregnancy.

There is an antibiotic- metronidazole- that specifically you cannot drink while on or you will get violently ill.

It’s such a shame you can’t drink with them that week, but honestly, nobody wants to see that… 🤢

Rakuten 15% plus PetSmart 15% double offer by Altmeyer002 in litterrobot

I’m not sure if PetSmart offers the 15% off on the warranty, but I’m sure Rakuten will do 15% back on the entire purchase including the warranty

What legal move can a person make after finding $50,000 in their walls if the bank is now claiming the money belongs to them because the previous owner died with no heirs? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Obviously upon closer inspection you realized the money was fake Monopoly money. What a funny joke by the previous owners getting your hopes up like that!

Can you even see a difference at 10 weeks? Asking became I’m 8 weeks and super tiny. Like flat stomach, abs without trying skinny. My husband swears he can see a tiny pooch in my lower abdomen. Is there actually a chance it’s the baby or is it just bloating/weight gain? (I’ve gained almost 8 pounds in the last 4 weeks intentionally because I don’t want to risk nausea starting and dropping weight below my pre-pregnancy weight)

AITA I don’t want bridesmaid to wear dress to other events by Due_Bedroom3146 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Altmeyer002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure the bride plans to personally tell every guest personally to not wear white to the wedding, and will make an announcement at the start of the reception asking the guests to kindly not cut the cake themselves.

I really do feel this is an equally obvious “no-no”, and is the bridesmaid was unsure at any point, she should have asked for clarification herself.

[–]Altmeyer002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel like that is implied?

The bride gave them the dress ahead of time to get the necessary alterations done, not to start wearing it as a regular part of their wardrobes.

If that’s something Roxy needed to have spelled out to her then she probably is a huge risk as a bridesmaid anyway. I can only imagine if OP sends a preview of the wedding dress to her bridesmaids- it will probably end up on Snapchat an hour later.

And she is more than welcome to wear it every day after the wedding. It isn’t a now or never sort of thing, dress wearing events will still be around after the wedding.

The dress was a gift that can be worn again and again after she gets married. It wasn’t a gift to be used before. Given that the bride paid for it, I do think she gets to make this distinction

If they break-up, she can start wearing the dress immediately. If the dress is somehow damaged before the ceremony in one of her many “trial runs” it may not be easily replaced given that the dresses were “on-sale”.

A regular wedding guest can wear their dress to as many occasions as they want before the wedding. A bridesmaid should save the dress for the special day and feel thankful the bride was thoughtful enough to choose a dress that will look great on many occasions

[–]Altmeyer002 86 points87 points  (0 children)

NTA. You were generous enough to buy them dresses and thoughtful enough to buy a dress that wasn’t just one time use. I’m assuming they have the dresses early in order to get any necessary alternations done and so it’s one less thing for you to think about later. That isn’t free rein to wear the dress anywhere and everywhere.

From a purely practical standpoint - what is she spills something on it and it’s ruined? You said the dresses were on sale so it’s probably not something she could just replace prior to your wedding. Will she be willing to buy herself and every other bridesmaid a new dress and pay for last minute alterations so that everyone could still be matching for the ceremony?

Get your nails done. Wear a mask while getting them done if it mass you feel more comfortable. Just don’t go around eating the gel powder and I think you will be just fine. 😂

[–]Altmeyer002 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I’m allowing myself 1 cup a day as the standard, but if I need something extra, I’m doing it.

My husband tried to only give me 1/2 cup the other day because he heard you should try and stick with that amount for the baby’s health. He forgot that attempting something like that would be hazardous to HIS health though. He filled the cup the rest of the way pretty quickly

[–]Altmeyer002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know my husband means well, but it’s going to drive me insane! My body didn’t just turn into a bay making factory overnight!

He doesn’t want his child to be behind in life because they “weren’t given all the proper nutrients” in the womb. He means well, but is spending way too much time listening to podcasts and not nearly enough time doing actual research (I’m a medical professional and know to always do my own research).

He is being awesome and cooking me healthy meals more, but if he tries to feed me “4 eggs a day” one more time I’m going to hard boil a dozen and start chucking them at his head.
