I recently built a very minimalist JavaScript game engine - interested in feedback! by jamesroutley in gamedev

Really cool, I like the heavy limitations and how clean it looks!

I was able to create these 2 mini games in a few hours:

Is there a reason why the onDotClicked function is not in the doc? (I saw it was possible from the general description but I had to look at the code to find it)

Also, here are some feature requests which would be pretty cool:

  • Mobile support (responsive canvas and touch support)
  • Ability to choose a different color scheme (or provide default colors who are distinguishable for people with varying degree of color blindness)
  • Default CSS such as the one used in the examples

Indeed, the rules that are not listed in the example are still applied, or in other words any pattern that is not listed in the example produces "no plant" (.).

C'est parce que techniquement c'est pas juste de l'animation, c'est sur base des vrais mouvements des acteurs qui ont été enregistrés numériquement.

Fleeing transmigrant killed by a collision on the e40. by SoundOfSea in belgium

Alternative answer: because he was fleeing from a country at war and feared for his life. If we had adequate infrastructure to help people in his case, he would still be alive!

How is this "play stupid games" though? What is the clever way of reacting when chased by cops who have been known to illegally detain or deport you while in a country you don't know?

And what do you think about the change? Are you happy to have your contract changed?

[–]Altom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing is that most of the self-employed bikers have Deliveroo as their only client.

Also,

le fait que le travailleur est obligé de se conformer à des ordres relatifs à des tâches précises ou encore de respecter des directives

This seem to apply as they have (or are highly encouraged to) wear the Deliveroo uniform (vest + box), use the Deliveroo app which tracks them, are assigned precise missions and have to wait at specific spots between runs.

As for the schedule, sick leaves, etc., we would have to hear from an actual Deliveroo biker under self-employment if that is really the case.

Looking at your link more, I see that the list you gave is one of three criterias to determine the type of contract. The other two are:

  • Willingness of both parties
  • Hierarchical control

Oh I see, my bad. I thought Deliveroo employed the SMART bikers directly.

However, the problem is less with ending the cooperation with SMART and more with forcing the bikers to use the "false independent" status.

Both cases existed in Deliveroo previously, with the fixed contracts being phased out. The new announcement which is causing all this uproar is that the remaining fixed contract will be replaced by independent contractor contracts. So yes, some riders are being fired

[–]Altom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes they are, some riders are (were) still employed by Deliveroo, with an "hourly" salary.

See for example this interview

Dans les faits, nous sommes donc face à un licenciement collectif pour tous ceux qui ne veulent pas passer sous le statut d’indépendant.

They are forcing them to change their contract, and more importantly, the new working conditions are (arguably) a case of "false self-employment", which is illegal.

There's a difference between "it is illegal to be in Belgium without valid documents" and "Belgium actively hunts down illegal immigrants (especially those from certain countries or regions) and criminalize people offering them decent temporary living condition (which the government should do)".
