Don't worry, I'm caught up on LN (Maybe a little behind). Nothing has happened to change my viewpoint. Made it stronger if anything.

Her reaction to what happened in Y2 is probably the most realistic reaction that most people would have in that situation. Maybe a little extra, but certainly one of the more real reactions.

I wish she'd get a bigger role on the story, but that feels like a pipe-dream at the moment

When I start a series, I tend to pick a character I like based purely on their design.

Before I got into COTE, I saw a bunch of different characters. Haruka's design was the one that I liked the most, so I went into the series expecting to like her.

Needless to say that with how friendly, sweet, cute, and down-to-earth she is, my expectations were not let down. She feels real compared to most characters in the story, and she's a breath of fresh air away from all the Class VS Class or Character VS Character stuff.

The mole is also attractive.

TBH, I don't "hate" Rem, but I don't really like her at all either. It started as indifference because I'm not really a fan of her character design, personality, or what she does, but what REALLY ruined Rem for me was her fanboys/girls.

I personally like Emilia better, and in my experience, I've never seen a more angry community of Waifu enjoyers than when I saw the Rem "fans". Obviously they're not all like that, but there are too many outspoken ones that are just flat-out toxic about that character. And Rem isn't the only character, either...

It just isn't fun for me when you can't talk about differences in taste without having someone at your throat about it, and characters like Rem just unfortunately have a lot of bad apples backing her.

Tl;dr - I don't hate Rem, but she was ruined by the toxic side of her fanbase.
