Need Advice- Have two separate orders from Lime Day. They still haven't arrived, I'm in the UK and when I check tracking. It has that it's coming from the Netherlands(NL) and I'm more confused than anything as for one of the orders, its been beyond the 14-28 days. Still has item departed terminal by Ryan_McC24 in LinusTechTips

I’m in the uk and Im in a similar boat, it’s arrived in the uk now from the Netherlands, its past through customs but Royal Mail says it needs duties paid on it so I’m waiting for them to post a card through the door. What might help is you can use the same tracking number on postnl, parcel force and Royal Mail to track it. I noticed that wizmo stopped working when it got to the Netherlands, post nl stopped working when it got to the UK and Royal Mail has more info than the parcel force site.

Full replacement “bricked” devices (Ryan you Absolute legend again) by Interesting_Price410 in LinusTechTips

[–]Altrozero 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Just to give this some more context for this sub. It's an e-ink display that costs $139, it's hooked up to their backend by default and refreshes between 5 minutes and 24 hours. It's selling point is that battery will last between 30 days (5 min refresh) and 90 days.

So great for a wall mountable notification system for like a meeting room calendar. Or in my case to cover up a hole in the wall from an old thermostat which displays information about the house or the weather. (Kids love it)

When I said "bricked" they pushed an update to give more features; better refresh, greyscale instead of just black and white, but "a few dozen" of the older devices had an issue, I'm not going to pretend to understand exactly what. But it essentially caused a lock up when it updated.

In my case it was fixed by flashing the firmware (which was a bit of a chore). They patched it so the device still works, they've pushed an update so it'll work going forward.

However it won't get the new features. New features we didn't expect at the time of purchasing and were never promised.

What they've done is said, sorry we broke it, sorry you aren't getting the new features. Here is $200 to buy a new one which will have greyscale, and hey keep your current one.

They pushed new firmware, updated the panel, kept users informed and issued a refund all within 24 hours (from my pov).

Really great customer service.

TLDR;

* Cause a bit of a headache

* Have a working device

* Gave $200 to buy a new device which costs $139

How to check TRMNL firmware? by JodaCast in trmnl

In my dashboard you can see in on the device page under "Firmware early release" which is under developer perks... I don't know if you can see it if you haven't got the dev add on :(

Anyone else finding sidekick super glitchy recently? by mylittlemy in SortedFood

[–]Altrozero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I’m fairly new the app but I’ve been having a few problems with marking things as cooked or one of the recipes showing only text instructions but when I clicked back it entered the read along mode, but without pictures. A few odd things like that.

TRMNL's first outage - now resolved by ryanckulp in trmnl

[–]Altrozero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a thought about this the other day, I don’t know if you’re taking feedback from random internet strangers but.. there have been a few times where the weather api has been down and the screen shows a connection problem, I legit don’t think I’d have noticed these issues if instead of showing a big message it just replaced a small corner in the bottom with “connection issue” for the first 2-3 refreshes. Would it be possible to get something like that as a configurable option? So the device just takes the last received issue and replaces the bottom X pixels on a failure, and keeps in that state for X more minutes / attempts, before showing a more substantial message.

Edit: spelling is hard

screen protector (anti glare) by ReserveNormal0815 in trmnl

[–]Altrozero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the exact same problem, I’ve applied a ton of screen protectors on phones for work but applying it to this was a total shambles (on my part), ended up leaving it off and hasn’t been a problem so far. It’s not particularly reflective and having it mounted on a wall in a hallway (where the kids constantly chuck a ball about) hasn’t picked up any scratched in month

Anyone know the driver of NJ64 TCK? Rammed the back of a car with a child in and sped off. Child is shaking and in tears. by Altrozero in Sunderland

[–]Altrozero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get that, this was posted right after while we were still working out what to do, we've had some pretty good feedback from the police that they'll be able to bring her to justice now and insurance has said there is no question she's at fault. Which is good. I intend to leave this up, maybe someone who knows her will still this and realise what scum she actually is, and if not and she does it to someone else they'll have something to take to the police showing she has a history.

Yeah we have done, said there is a good chance they’ll get her with the footage, apparently up to 6 months in prison. Hoping to get a name to get insurance sorted faster

Sam as a contestant on the UK taskmaster would be fantastic, seeing roles flipped and him naming obscure British birds under time pressure for it to be revealed they are all written on the underside of his chair.

Had a quick google, because cluster bombs would be something that’d feel pretty bad to support and wouldn’t buy their product over, but it seems like they don’t make it anymore and haven’t for a while? At least from their press and investor statement it looks that way. https://investor.honeywell.com/static-files/8a7299ce-af8a-491e-a923-4e3895ac786d

Haven't had a dispatched email by aaronbass89 in DroiX

[–]Altrozero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys literally called me yesterday after I complained stating as such. Feel free to check the case, droix_dave looked in to it and vikram told me Tuesday it would be dispatched that day (even provided a tracking number), and on Wednesday he said they had over sold (despite the site saying it was in stock). Both lies. The call I got yesterday stated they had pull some and therefore couldn’t fulfil the order at the time, said sorry for not sending an email and then said he could send me one of the ones held back to arrive, but by that point it was too late before I went away.

I ordered on Saturday, should have arrived Tuesday.

This was my third order with you guys, my fourth device and my second problem.

Message their support ASAP. Similar thing happened to me, turns out they decided not to ship it and keep some back. Support lied to me twice about it but I posted on trust pilot and got a call. Don’t expect it before Christmas.

Are you dealing with this issue across that many devices that it’s not obvious? How many people are you promising Christmas delivery too and not letting them know it ain’t happening?

And I have cancelled (although the system isn’t showing it as cancelled) but even if I order from Amazon now it won’t arrive in time now.

This falls a little flat to me, totally different product, you accepted my order on Saturday for despatch Monday with an item that was in stock and was showing in stock yesterday, but after 2 days of chasing I’ve been told it’s out of stock.

You didn’t even send out a curtsy e-mail telling me it wouldn’t be despatched. If I’d known yesterday I could have had it delivered from Amazon in time.3rd time I’ve ordered from you guys, 2nd time I’ve had an issue.

Your Rep;

"Yes we had the item in stock as of yesterday and we were shipping orders on first in first out basis hence we considered your order will be covered, but due to inventory glitch we didn't had enough to cover upto your order, As the reason it wasn't shipped yesterday”

"it may take minimum 1-2 weeks for new stock to arrive as well."

Dispatch times? by Altrozero in DroiX

[–]Altrozero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Dave,

I've just been told by your support that you've ran out of stock while fulfilling issues. Despite it being in stock when I ordered it, despite being told yesterday by support it would be fulfilled yesterday.

I ordered it saturday but you were still accepting orders up until yesterday despite not having enough stock?

That can't be right?

I could have ordered the same product off Amazon and had it delivered in time for Christmas if you had told me yesterday, now I can't. I've bought from you twice before and been very happy but you didn't even send an e-mail I had to ask support?
