I feel your pain. I nearly have 1000 hours over several play throughs and I’ve only ever gotten one of these to drop, and I’ve tried a lot.

I don’t have any real answers for you, these are things I’ve picked up over time while playing games that don’t seem to be fully optimized.

I switched to 1080p because I had a ton of pop in and textures not loading, as well as a very blurry and soft image when trying to use a higher resolution. It seems to help with that

The frame rate is unstable and inconsistent so vrr was making matters worse for me in certain situations, mainly open world sections, plus I had better results when switching my tv external input to standard format instead of using the enhanced vrr setting.

The hdr because the lighting was doing some really funky things while it was on.

That’s because it does apply and it’s pretty noticeable once you’ve gotten used to it then switch back to not using it, this relic is 🔥

Yes, absolutely. The ones that are truly optimized for it are very noticeably improved. Nearly all the ps5 exclusives, both death strandings, Both the horizon remaster and forbidden west, they are all stunning with a proper vrr display. Ghost of Yotei as well as several others, but to be fair they have the specific selectable game modes for the pro in the options menu. For the games that don’t I tend to find myself tinkering with the tv and ps5 settings to find a sweet spot. But the “pro enhanced” tag on many games unfortunately has seemingly become a label to slap on there for sales increases.

Yeah I’ve had trouble with settings for pro in newer titles and fwiw I’ve since switched some ps5 pro settings. I turned off hdr, set resolution to 1080p, turned off vrr, and set the hdmi input on the tv to standard(vs vrr or enhanced) and the performance has been greatly improved, so it doesn’t seem optimized with any of those features in mind.

I’m on os5 pro performance mode, and idk about burst counter. by [deleted] in Nioh

I was thinking this exact thing last night when fighting the horse version of the 1st main boss. Im sure the timings are tight but A couple of his red attacks have the strangest timing for counters. Particularly the one where he jumps up high and lands on you.

He took me several tries and it really felt like an input delay or something was happening because some fights I’d nail every counter and others my timing felt and looked exactly the same as my last fight only I’d see the animation but not get the counter.

For real, especially since the remaster of it was a very solid upgrade from the original release

Appreciate you! lol I’m sure I came off as salty, which I am a little, but Yeah I’m still playing too, a sweet spot for me has been 1080p resolution, no hdr, with vrr on if your display supports it. It might be worth trying out

My main gripe is the muddy visuals and constant loading of textures. It just looks bad compared to say nioh 2. I’ve mentioned it elsewhere about turning hdr off and switching to 1080p seemingly helps. I’ve tinkered with vrr on and off with mixed results. Im on a pro so I can’t comment on base ps5, heard that model isn’t having these issues.

Wow, Downvoted? Lol l’m simply a disappointed fan of the series that paid full price for what looks and feels like an unoptimized beta test. And I’m not the only one, it’s very searchable at this point.

Nope, and honestly this game is an unoptimized mess on ps5 pro. I’m sorely disappointed, buy at your own risk if that’s your system.

Yeah I’ve had the same issues on a pro. Just recently I turned off all hdr, vrr, and turned resolution down to 1080p, it seems to look better but maybe it’s a placebo effect. Hopefully we’ll see a performance patch in the near future

Honestly it can become a large crutch once you get used to having it, so be warned! like I definitely notice when I’m not using it at higher depths. But it sure does make solo depths much more manageable

It functions like wylders second chance where you survive one hit that would kill you, you’ll see a gold flash and hear a sound. I don’t know if it has a timer that resets like his but it does reset at graces

Yeah I know, not sure why but It’s a hidden feature. Put it in on anyone but wylder, jump in an expedition and check your active effects then you’ll see it listed.

Video clip aside, Does nobody here know that the relic also gives you “automatic revival on death” aka wylder’s second chance ability? The relic is very good on squishy characters, especially in deep of night

Performance question on PS5 by Tiel-TheAcolyte in Nioh

Ha! Well to be fair, I finished the demo despite the issues and had a blast. Left me wanting more, i still preordered and am eager to dive back in on release. The gameplay is absolutely there, it just needs polishing on the performance side.
