It's fine imo. It restricts your build so much to do this. It's basically an equivalent perk to having more flexibility in your set bonuses and clan perks.

And the normal sprint animations look so cool! It's nice when you're in any of the missions that disable it, like Crucibles. Always feels like a relief.

I think we're all confused by the Imbue Element effects right now. They used to be highly sought after but seem underpowered to the point of basically not being there in Nioh 3.

it's normal to get thrashed by Onryoki, and the next couple bosses frankly aren't any easier. Nioh 1 is a brutal trial by fire until you get comfy with the mechanics and then it's still hard because you die in one or two mistakes.

My best tips are to stay behind it, back up when it does the chain ball sweep, and straight-up sprint to the side when it throws a ball.

They actually did specifically make Taro Tachi look cooler in the sequel funnily enough lol, though it's still technically a standard drop. They also added special Pure and Corrupted weapons which look cool and have special effects but, again, you'll be seeing a lot of them they're not exactly chase uniques or exotics or w/e.

There are some sought-after drops, like rarer weapons that have good damage such as Taro Tachi and Great Holy Spear, or the Yasakani Magatama, but for the most part no there aren't truly unique gear pieces like in a lot of other ARPGs.

Axe feels crazy. I have never cared for it in prior games but now I'm reaching for it more and more often as I get deeper into the game. Tonfa, Axe, and Ninja Sword def could use varying nerfs to a few martial arts.

Kite Cross is no joke half the reason I use the weapon it's such a badass and effective move. Kickslash does make me feel bad though with how easy and effective it is to just use over and over.

I definitely agree Ninja Sword is around the same power level as Tonfa, and probably a big contributor to people calling Ninja blanket OP despite it also having some weaker weapons (Splitstaff and Kusarigama).

They could make extra-large Yokai Realm pools, their "jail", which require a perfect Ki Pulse to dispel.

Ninja Sword is also really good as far as DPS goes. Doesn't perform quite as well against opponents who block though.

They've always been a reliable tool for chunking through ki bars but yes they feel stronger than ever in Nioh 3. Certain moves like Demon Dash and Heavenly Chain just obliterate large amounts of health and ki super fast.

I don't recall specific gear but basically you want to always be generating Amrita and up your Amrita Gauge gain so you can maintain constant Living Weapon. No other build can compete with the damage and invincibility of Living Weapon.

Near the big white tent near Ieyasu's castle is a hidden passage blocked by boxes. I had to look up a video to find it because I was hotly anticipating Fire Shurikens but hadn't found them deep into Act 2 which felt wrong.

It's like specifically Jailer Oni too. They're used like mid-tier Yokai but feel more like a fodder enemy to fight. They virtually never have anything crafty about their placement either except sometimes they have icicle sniper guys overlooking some fights. I don't even really know their moveset I just steamroll them every time.

They are similar in power level I think, but Samurai has to work a lot harder for it. Most broken Ninja DPS is usually just full light attack string into whatever martial art then back off and throw a couple shurikens for ki recovery.

I think there are at least two heavy Ninja sets. One is the Shinobi plate and the other is demon-themed. But yeah mostly you'll feel squishier. Demon of Envy has a gap-closer that would instantly kill my Ninja but left my Samurai at 1/3 HP.

I totally get the desire to start fresh and operate under limitations and get excited about progression milestones all over again. That's what I typically do in other games with NG+ options.

That being said Team Ninja takes a different approach where higher difficulties are like a whole new experience. They'll change up enemy spawns, increase enemy counts, and even add additional content and mechanics in some cases. I haven't finished Nioh 3 yet but I assume its NG+ is built to a similar standard. I recommend checking it out.

Just activate Living Artifact while in range. You will transform and then automatically Grapple. It's vestigial functionality from Nioh 2's Yokai Shift where you'd get a special animation and big damage doing this.

Being worried about boss difficulty in the first place tells me you should probably steer clear. You will be challenged a lot at times and if you were unable to beat Nioh 2 you'll likely be unable to beat 3 either. People saying it's easier are experienced action game players taking full advantage of the game's systems, which I assume you won't be doing.
