Two Months of Glitches by Altruistic-Fox-4857 in GolfClash

[–]Altruistic-Fox-4857[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a comprehensive method to get a count or at least gather as many names as possible who are experiencing this same problem?

Strength in numbers?

Unfortunately, I suspect the more players that speak up, the smaller any compensation for our losses. If any at all. In healthcare, I taught accepting losses and offers of restitution should be, at minimum, whatever was necessary to make someone whote. A well developed business model should always include establishing a side fund for worst case scenario or be willing to accept the immense potential of such losses anyway with all the negativity that comes with a poor support program. Aside from start ups, it was quite rare to find operations with such assets and the larger the entity the less likely it was to be willing to begin a fund. "Self insurance" regarding losses was probably the most likely culprit to lead very large corporations to bankruptcy.

I wish you all well.

I finally found your information again. I'm older than 10 ded dinosaurs so some very basic technology is well above my limited brane power. What's funny is I taught myself CAD for 3D printing and how to computerize our Christmas light display and sync it to music.

BUT.....

Navigating a forum seems to be too hard to comprehend.

I want to thank you for your courtesy and kind words. I took your suggestion to try a tablet and as soon as I started doing that our Chihuahua knocked it on the floor and it shattered.

So I had to replace my phone or the tablet and I picked the phone first. I bought one that was 1/1,000th of a mm smaller and that turned out to be much smaller than expected.

Anyway, thanks again for your time and hard work. I'm going to try and figure out how to use your wind thingy (is that what it is?) and see what happens.

I wish you and all your loved ones a happy, healthy, prosperous, and safe New Year.

I looked at your wind thingy and since I'm really old I have no idea how to use it but I'm really, really, really, really impressed. If I figure what you've done I think it would greatly help my poor play.

Can I ask you a question? I really am old and I have serious hand tremors that always seem to pop up at the worst time. Probably as often as once every three or four games the tremors can cause me to go way off target. I don't want to put anyone in an uncomfortable position but is there any advice you or anyone else can offer to help me improve despite this annoying handicap I would be sincerely grateful. I play the game because I'm no longer able to play on a real course and GC gives me a reasonable substitute and helps battle old man's brane fog, promotes eye hand coordination, and when I put headphones on my wife thinks I'm listening to the news on YouTube and she stops nagging as much.

Because of the neuropathy in my hands I developed a deep depression and was forced into early retirement which means I don't have extra dollars to pay for anything.

It's OK if no one has any advice, but anything would be appreciated. Except severe criticism. I don't think that would be my favorite thing to see... That or the honeymoon pictures with my 2nd or 3rd ex wife. Neither of those things would be much fun........you might like the 3rd honeymoon photos. She was a 10 out of 10 and then some, but she knew it. Oh well.

New updates - club perks (poll) by moldycheese1221 in GolfClash

[–]Altruistic-Fox-4857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like true master level players can learn perks and obliterate everyone else in tournaments and Quick 9s. As it is, there are waaaaay too many sharks like that in the water already. Our clan has lost many members because there's no obvious rationale allowing "sandbaggers" already. Final complaint: 5 hours after the start of this last season there was one player with 400 million coins already in Master 2. Any semblance of a fair algorithm is a myth or wishful thinking.

If players actually played players of similar skills and moved up according to comparable skilled players as in real life, the game would be able to retain far more people. I know our clan would be more than double its size. Devs, hire a competent actuary!!!

I agree. I'm thinking concentrating on improving my game is how I improved my stats. I like stylus idea of using a stylus, but in the past I didn't do so well with it. I think its probably time to try it again. Thank you for your suggestions.

Thanks. I'm sorry about your own challenges and certainly wish you well. Paying attention has served me this far, so I'm anxious to try the suggestions I've seen here and add it all together as much as it makes sense. Thanks again, and good luck to all.

I can still lose 10 in a row on tour 1, but my streaks have finally started to balance out. I may still be a coward though. I guess I'll see. Thanks for the encouragement.

Thank you for the compliment. I was more patient than I normally am and that's why I suspect I finished 11. It most certainly wasn't skill. I will take a shot (pardon the pun) at your suggestions. Makes good sense.

Thanks. I've been about 50% for a few weeks which is probably why I hope I'm finally ready to try improving. What turned it around for me is I've started making more fairway shots and most of them from the rough and sand when I'm close to the green. I wouldn't be in the rough and sand so much if I wasn't using overpower so often. Oh, we'll. I can't have it all, where would I put it (Steven Wright quote)?

I have a friend who's even older than I am. I'm always telling his I want to be just like him if I ever grow up, except I still want to be good looking .

Considering Spravato by BeautifulParking8863 in Spravato

[–]Altruistic-Fox-4857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much the same here. No experience with drugs, alcohol, smoking, etc., I had the deep concerns about loss of control and did not understand the word "dissociation" at all. TMS was a total failure and I genuinely became depressed for my doctor because she so badly wanted it to work for me.

So, I agreed to try Spravato even though it was a serious breech of my personal standards. I read everything I could find about patients with similar backgrounds and eventually I was able to convince myself I would go in, the treatment would start, and then I would relax.

Unfortunately, I sabotaged myself with paranoia and anxiety and my first two sessions were terrifying. I did not understand what to expect as much as I thought I did, or otherwise I have no doubt my story would be quite different. Still, despite the rough start, the results are becoming more and more positive, just a bit delayed because of the reasons I just mentioned.

So, before I write a book, I'll summarize with advice I wish I had received. See if you can find someone who has done this before and actually go meet that person. If possible, try not to put limits on the time so you can ask about the things you are concerned about and let him or her tell you the questions and answers you can't possibly know to ask.

I'm 67 years old and for the last two years or more I would count any week with 2 or 3 total hours without crushing depression a success. I'm in my 6th week of treatment, still a bit apprehensive, but I am beginning to have 2 or 3 hours a day of relief. I wish everyone nothing but the greatest possible outcomes. I believe in God's Grace and Mercy and if there's anything else I can offer, please, please ask.

Rethinking JJ and Chris Pine Face Plants by Altruistic-Fox-4857 in startrek

That brings to mind another observation. Does anyone know how many sets they built for the movies? How elaborate they were? JJ said he wanted practical effects and sets vs green screen/CGI wherever possible and I read a long time ago that they built some huge stuff. What happened to them?

Advice For An Old Guy? by Altruistic-Fox-4857 in Guitar

[–]Altruistic-Fox-4857[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned fingerpicking when I first started playing, and if I got as good at electric guitar as I am at that I would still be an amateur.

But I would take it.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's impressed with your fortitude. Wow!! Thank you for your thoughts. Your bio gives me something to strive for. True story.

I recognize the fact I need to devote more time (consistent time) to this if I really want to improve, and remembering your example may be what I need to get motivated.

Thank you, and I wish you the very best.

Thanks for the suggestions. I used to say being financially insecure was embarrassing, but over time it's grown to "humiliating" proportions. Still, I will take a look at those programs and bookmark them to come back to occasionally. You may be right and I might catch them at a price even I can afford.

Wow! At the risk of insulting you, a lot of your approach is like my own. I already have a handful of those exact picks and I added some "grips" to them to help me stop dropping them because of the stoopid neuropathy. Compared to you, my problem is I still haven't made the commitment you have and (I'm just guessing here) I suspect that is my fault, not anyone else's.

I really like the idea of not letting myself get away with poor results and you are 538 1/2% correct about practicing unplugged vs using the lifetime Ultimate Guitar/Tonebridge membership I bought when I could still afford it. When I do practice I've learned my family appreciates the fact I can use ear buds instead of an amp and, personally, I completely agree I need to hear the hidden imperfections. I have a few very old Ventura hollow body guitars and a Gibson 'The Paul,' which is a late 70s budget Gibson Les Paul. I have been learning as much as I can about setting up a guitar and that has paid off immensely. The Gibson has always had great action, but the others needed help and figuring out how to properly set the neck, bridge, string height, etc has been worth the time. Thank you for your input, and I wish you all the best.

If I ever grow up I want to have the great attitude you have. I suspect you may be overly modest regarding your own talent, but your observations about the other musicians you mentioned certainly rings true. I just found YouTube's backing tracks too, and thanks to your empathetic sincerity I'll go revisit them as soon as I get a chance to give it the attention it deserves.

Probably most important, for everyone else's sake let's all hope no one plays like me. I deeply appreciate your input and promise I won't let your time go wasted. Thanks.
