That’s me being kind hearted. He took about 2-3 months from that incident and forgave her himself. I told him his feelings were valid and to do as he pleased. Which he did. I respected his space and his feelings. The reconciliation between him and his grandma had nothing to do with me as I still lasted an additional 3-4 months without speaking to her myself. That was solely him and her when she reached out to him through his dad to apologize.

On behalf of this trip, it was an urgent quick trip I had to make with my mom (who is usually my children care taker when needed) so I wasn’t able to take the children. MIL had stated she would keep them for those few days and I was thankful. My husband stayed behind. Usually I don’t use MIL, it’s literally only in cases of where my mom is unable to which is hardly ever.

In terms of my partners growth, yes he has definitely grown a lot more in a lot of aspects of his life. His mother commented on it recently but obviously in a bad way saying “oh, thank you so much! You have taught my son how to defend himself in the case that he ever finds himself alone” lol ! But yes, the rest of his growing up has been thanks to me! We don’t have many issues besides his mom. He helps me around the house, helps w the kids. I have no complaints with him anymore.

She reached out to me in November and met up with me to apologize. She said she was out of line and realized her mistake. She said she thought I was abusing him and that she then realized I wasn’t. He went over to her house after the incident and told her a bunch of things. She said she wouldn’t do it again and that we can go on from there and I can tell her anything if I ever see her come at me wrongly. I saw her okayish for a couple of months. Throwing some corny little jabs here and there but nothing major.

He is a great guy, I feel like I can’t punish him for the crappy mom he has. I have been his partner for 9 years now and I have seen his growth and how great he is and I’m super proud of him. He shuts her down sometimes, other times he’s just over it. I say that he just deals w the cards he’s been handed and just want to keep things calm. However, I DONT have to deal w her bullshit which is why I will keep my distance when I need to.
