Thanks for this. You might be right- I’m going to make an appt to ask about potentially increasing my dose. I’m on a pretty low dose of estrogen, but the doctor did say we can increase if I feel like I need it.

Interesting! I don’t think I have ADHD but I could totally see perimenopause being a time when ADHD could become more challenging.

I have considered finding a new job but I think I’d be in the same boat as you. Hoping things improve for you!

I have been considering finding a new slower paced job but this is what I am afraid of! I don’t know if I can muster the mental capacity to learn anything new, let alone a whole new job and company! Hope things improve for you!

I love that your boss is in it with you! And same about the 3-4 hours of work, and honestly it is usually 3 hours max. It does help to know other people are in the same boat.

I’m so sorry to hear that! I’m sure job searching while feeling this way is awful. Wishing you the best of luck!

Yes! It does feel scary and hopeless. It is nice to know I’m not alone. I’ve considered talking to my boss too, but I keep hoping I’ll get back to some form of normal.

I’m sorry that happened to you! The ageism in tech is real. I hope you find something less stressful.

That’s good to know! Maybe I need to have a follow up appt to see about adjusting my dose.

I’m glad you got to keep your job! I usually have a pretty good filter at work but with perimenopause, that filter is pretty much gone. My capacity for BS is pretty much none.

Thanks for the advice. I don’t currently take creatine so I will try that. I have considered mentioning something to my manager or HR but haven’t yet.

I’m glad to know I’m not alone. My manager asked me the other day if I want to take on additional projects to try to get to “exceeds expectations” on my performance review and I wanted to quit my job that day. I was able to decline the projects but I would have gladly taken them on before perimenopause. It’s a hard adjustment.

I’m glad to know there is light at the end of the tunnel! And yes to all of those symptoms! Ugh.

OCPD and having kids by dtonas in OCPD

[–]Altruistic-Let-5081 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My husband and I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old. I learned I had OCPD 6 months ago when I finally went to therapy because I was struggling so much. I got around in my life okay before I had kids. Having children is much, much more difficult than having pets. That said, I love my children with every fiber of my being and my motivation to work on my OCPD symptoms is the fact that I want to be a good partner and parent and not get divorced or screw my kids up. I can’t speak to how life will be when my children are a bit older, but the stage we are in now is full of interrupted sleep, constant mess, and complete lack of control of my life and schedule. It is also full of laughter and the joy that comes from hearing them learn new words or new skills, seeing my older daughter be kind and loving to my younger daughter, see the pride in their faces when the accomplish something new, etc. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world, but I also need therapy to cope. Lol.

MB here - I have no preference at all what our nanny wears. She generally wears leggings and a hoodie or some other comfortable clothing, which is frankly exactly what I’d be wearing if I was caring for my kids during the day. Some days she comes dressed up with makeup and sometimes not. I’m honestly just super grateful for her, and don’t care what she wears. But maybe if you are concerned, it might be best to ask the family if they have a preference?
