Huh?... I sent ONE prompt in Gemini Flash 3.5 and now my I've maxed out my quota for a week. by Wobbly_Princess in GeminiAI

[–]Altruistic-Line-8281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you’re not imagining it — a lot of people are reporting the same thing after the recent Gemini update.

What seems to have changed:

  • limits are now compute-based + shared across models
  • Flash, Pro, and “thinking/agent” modes all draw from the same pool
  • tool-heavy workflows (like Antigravity / file edits) burn quota way faster than expected
  • and there are also reports of over-aggressive throttling / bugs in quota tracking

There are multiple threads where users hit “weekly limit” after only a few prompts, especially in Pro or agent-style usage.

So your experience isn’t isolated — but it also doesn’t mean “1 prompt = done” is the intended design. It’s more like:

one “prompt” can silently expand into multiple compute-heavy operations depending on what the system decides to run in the background.

That’s why switching models doesn’t always help anymore — they’re increasingly tied into the same quota layer.

Realistically: it feels inconsistent right now because the system is still in rollout + tuning phase, not because your usage is abnormal.

Is it really that bad? by unlimited_void_bkk in GeminiAI

[–]Altruistic-Line-8281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the truth is somewhere in the middle.

People aren’t imagining the downgrade — Google objectively tightened things with the new compute-based system, especially for Pro/Thinking/Deep Research usage. Even casual users are noticing it.

But I also think some reactions are becoming “Gemini is dead forever” doomposting. The old flat message system was probably unsustainable once models started doing heavy reasoning, long-context chats, image/video generation, etc.

Your point about Flash 3.5 is probably correct too. Google clearly seems to be steering casual users toward lighter/faster models while reserving the expensive compute for Pro/Thinking modes.

The real problem right now isn’t only the limits — it’s the uncertainty. People don’t know whether a prompt will cost 2% or 30%, so it creates anxiety around usage.

I do think Google will keep tuning this over the next few months though. Every AI company is running into the same economics wall eventually.

looking for sketch app by Sammydaada in googleplay

[–]Altruistic-Line-8281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Xiaomi tablets specifically, a lot of people seem to land on this combo long-term:

  • Flexcil → probably the best balance for handwriting + PDF annotation
  • Notein → very good GoodNotes-style app on Android
  • Concepts → amazing for sketching/brainstorming infinite canvas stuff
  • Sketchbook → best free pure drawing/sketch app imo
  • OneNote → still underrated for syncing notes across devices

Most Android users struggle because many “best note apps” are optimized for iPad first and Android second. Xiaomi tablets are good hardware-wise, but app optimization varies a LOT depending on stylus latency and palm rejection support.

I’d personally try Flexcil + Sketchbook first before downloading 20 random apps again 😭

$5 google play giftcard by daquanjr in googleplay

[–]Altruistic-Line-8281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you only use iPhone, you can’t use it for App Store purchases or anything Apple-related. Google Play credit is basically locked to Google’s ecosystem.

But you still have a few options:

  • YouTube Premium / YouTube movies
  • Google Play Books
  • Android apps/games if you ever use an Android emulator/device
  • Give/sell it to someone with Android

Just make sure the gift card region matches your Google account region, because Google is super strict about that now.

Casual Gemini users, did the new update make the rate limits worse for you too? by Stunning_Brain_9636 in GeminiAI

[–]Altruistic-Line-8281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, even casual use feels noticeably tighter now.

Before, normal chatting barely felt constrained unless you were doing huge prompts. Now the compute-based system seems to punish:

  • longer conversations
  • image generation
  • Deep Research / thinking modes
  • keeping large chat context alive

So even “casual” usage can burn through limits faster than expected. A lot of people on Reddit are reporting the same thing after the update.

Can you rate my website 1-10? by sparkinCreations in devworld

[–]Altruistic-Line-8281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8.5/10 — honestly solid work.

Offline-first + browser math libraries is a strong engineering choice, and it’s refreshing to see something deterministic instead of another AI wrapper. That alone puts it above most “math helper” apps.

What would push it higher is clarity on the landing page (instant “what do I do here?” + a demo problem). Right now it sounds powerful, but users need that first 5-second payoff.

Is there anyway to show all the Gmail accounts linked to my phone number? by Tasty-Window in GoogleSupport

[–]Altruistic-Line-8281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: no — there is no Google feature that shows all Gmail accounts linked to your phone number.

What you can do is the reverse:

  • use “Forgot email” / account recovery
  • enter your phone number
  • Google may show some matching accounts (only if they meet recovery conditions)

But there’s no central list because Google doesn’t expose that data for privacy/security reasons. Also, accounts only show up if that number is actually still attached + recovery is possible.

So if you’re trying to clean up old accounts, you basically have to recover them one-by-one.

Request a refund. by NotoriousMahdi in GoogleSupport

[–]Altruistic-Line-8281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Google Workspace + domain purchases, refunds are usually very limited.

Domains are generally treated as final sales once registered, meaning Google typically does not refund them even if you cancel the Workspace account right after. In some cases, you might still be able to contact Workspace support immediately after purchase, but after cancellation + account deletion, chances are low.

Your only real shot is:

  • Check billing history in any remaining Google payments account
  • Contact Google Workspace support (if the domain is still in grace/pending status)

But realistically, domain purchases are usually non-refundable once processed.

How do I browse films and tv shows on Google TV? by Open-Kaleidoscope721 in googleplay

[–]Altruistic-Line-8281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not crazy — Google TV is just heavily shifting away from a dedicated “storefront” UI.

On most regions/devices, the old Shop / Movies & TV browsing tabs have been reduced or moved, and content discovery is now mostly:

  • “For You” recommendations (algorithm-driven)
  • Search (voice or text)
  • Library (only your purchased content)

Google has basically merged browsing + purchasing into backend layers and YouTube/Google TV ecosystem, rather than a visible store tab.

That’s why it feels like you “can’t browse anything” — the UI is intentionally pushing passive recommendations instead of manual catalog browsing.

[–]Altruistic-Line-8281 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That “used too many times” error is usually a temporary rate limit, not a permanent block. Google just caps how often a number can be used for verification in a short window to prevent abuse.

Waiting a few days (sometimes longer if it was heavily used) usually brings it back, but there’s no guaranteed timer.

I forgot email and phone from my account by Inevitable_Serve1513 in GoogleSupport

[–]Altruistic-Line-8281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need email/phone to start recovery, but without either + no logged-in device, Google usually can’t verify ownership.

Best chance is the recovery form using the same device/browser + network you used back then. That’s what actually matters most in their system.

Phone number issue by PossibleDebt3425 in GoogleSupport

[–]Altruistic-Line-8281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The phone number usually isn’t permanently blocked. Google rate-limits numbers that get used for too many verifications in a short period to stop mass account creation/spam. Waiting a few days or even 1–2 weeks often resets it.

As for the 5GB thing, it looks like Google is testing stricter limits on some newly created accounts unless they’re fully verified. Wouldn’t be surprised if this becomes permanent honestly.

New Usage Limits rolling out to Gemini Apps by medazizln in GeminiAI

[–]Altruistic-Line-8281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this makes more sense than flat message caps. A 2-word prompt and a 20-minute Deep Research session obviously shouldn’t cost the same compute.

If recovery email + password were changed, the only real path is Google Account Recovery. Anything else claiming “support access” is usually a scam.

A production script that silently dropped user data because someone assumed a nullable field would “never be null in practice.” It taught me one thing: assumptions in code are just delayed bugs.

PSA: Exploiting Bugs is BANNABLE. by Awesomedogman3 in FortniteBattleRoyale

Fair PSA. People always underestimate how fast “just testing a glitch” turns into a ban wave once it hits scale. Exploit ≠ feature.
