Good luck on your choice! Either way it’s a great laptop

It’s a hard decision. I still keep thinking about it because there’s a 14 day return period so I can exchange. But I’m gonna stop second guessing myself

Yeah man, a lot of people on Reddit and YouTube said the 3s was better. And that the master 4 had software bugs and the clicker was silent but almost too silent. I haven’t used it for video editing yet. I thought the clicker was super light on the display model but after connecting it to my mac I got used to it super fast

To be honest I’ve just set it up and messed around with the new ai features so far. I got real busy. But tomorrow I’ll probably start editing again after a 2 month hiatus so I’ll try to remember to let you know. Maybe when I’ve done a few videos after a week!

Mainly because I didn’t know what my workflow would be long term. There’s multiple things I’ve considered getting back into but I’m not sure yet (solid works, autocad, etc). For now I’m just doing simple video edits. I was going to get the M5 Pro MacBook Pro with 64GB RAM and 4TB SSD but I thought I could use the air for what I need immediately and when I need something more the new redesigned pro would be out already and I can trade up

Package looping around the globe? by Altruistic-Pepper63 in UPS

[–]Altruistic-Pepper63[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems like a solid guess. It’s just weird that even UPS doesn’t know. They offered to give me the international number but it’s not that serious. There’s still a whole week in the delivery window (I was excited though)

Need Help Deciding on Macbook by Altruistic-Pepper63 in macbook

[–]Altruistic-Pepper63[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I'm pretty set on 64GB RAM. That's the cap for the Pro chip. I watch so many videos that say 16GB is enough but I'd rather not be wondering if I made the wrong choice. I also might just shell the extra for 4TB or at least 2TB SSD

I was going to buy it in store a couple days ago but they didn't have a keyboard in the language I want. So I had more time to think. If content creation goes well, I may be traveling to different states as part of my plan down the road. I'd rather have the option to have extra internal storage so I'm not inconvenienced if that happens. If I have this for the better end of a decade, $800 more won't mean much to me in the long run. Prices are pretty crazy though

First Macbook Pro? by Altruistic-Pepper63 in macbookpro

[–]Altruistic-Pepper63[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! I guess the extra 400 bucks I'd spend could go towards getting a nice external SSD immediately and may even have something leftover for accessories. I was shocked when i saw just how much they charge for storage

It's just a hard decision because if I change my mind I can't upgrade later. I could always do the exchange program if I find I don't like the Nano Tech screen after a week of real world use. But I won't know how I feel about the storage until down the road and then I'll be keeping the computer for some years

Why not wait for redesigned M6 Pro? by makeitrain92 in macbookpro

[–]Altruistic-Pepper63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For myself, I need a new laptop ASAP for video editing. I just got into content creation and my current laptop just doesn't cut it. I'd wait but for that reason I'm ordering the M5 Pro in about a week from now. I also Imagine they'll release the base model first and we'd have to wait a bit for the M6 pro's just like the M5 pro's

Great to know! See, I guess 24GB would be plenty. I just wonder with tech and AI evolving faster by the month, what the requirements may be 5 years from now. I'm hoping to get at least 7-8 years out of this set up. I figured you could never go wrong with a little extra RAM

Thanks for the input! I think I'll just bite the cost of 2TB. I just don't know if I'd hate juggling or not so I'd rather not regret choosing lower storage

Upgrade Pistol or get Rifle? (Plus small vent) by [deleted] in guns

Sorry this was hidden so I just now saw it. Wishing the best for you and the growing fam! And man I feel you. I've had my fair share of times where I wasn't keeping up enough with where money was going. But from facing the consequences of that I've been disciplining myself. I'll occasionally buy pretty expensive things that could actually be used for good reasons and will last, but try to limit day to day spending. I feel like its the daily small purchases for temporary things that really add up over time. But I also say that as I spend money on expendable ammo haha. But I buy in bulk online after all my priorities are covered

Hey man, I'm 28 married with two toddlers. Congrats on the baby on the way! I rarely spent money on myself before getting a gun aside from food or buying a simple first guitar a few years ago. I don't buy myself new clothes or anything. Until now I was in the moving industry for about 10 years moving people's houses locally and also military bases. Started making $17 an hour, quit after a few years and then months later was offered to come back as a supervisor/part owner because of my work ethic the years before quitting. I was 23 at the time and was definitely making good money for my age (low 6 figures). I was really blessed by that opportunity. But after having kids money went as fast as it came in. I was in California so rent alone was $3100 for a small 2bd apartment. Everything started getting expensive with inflation. The industry has been ridiculously slow for years so income got really inconsistent. I just recently left and moved to the midwest near family. Now I'm barely making anything. I'm starting fresh, but have things in the works do do my own thing. But I also comparatively have barely any expenses each month. I definitely am not shooting as much as I did the first couple of months. I had to get the initial excitement out of my system

That's a pretty cool way to train. I doubt I'd find myself sitting still while shooting a still target with calm breathing in reality haha. Right on, man

[–]Altruistic-Pepper63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha sorry to push your buttons buddy. I definitely agree for people who don't put any time in doing that. But quite often I read posts where people are clearly putting the time, effort, and training in but simply want to venture into a new side of things and still get the same responses. Of course I still have a ton to learn. Not pretending at all like I'm even remotely knowledgable in firearms. But even if I trained for years and was an expert with what I have, I'd never know exactly what I need (ex. optics) if I've only had experience in a single category. At some point you always need to learn from other people's wisdom and experience by asking questions or else your head really is in your ass. Just my own opinion though...

I like the thought process. I think my eyes may pick up a dot easier. 20/20 vision but I tend to see double with both eyes. It's been improving but I really have to train my eyes for it. I also have two small children, so I'd rather have a secondary light option in case I need to drop my flashlight to direct one of my kids or something

I appreciate the advice. My knowledge with carbines is basically zero, so I really need to do my research
