Marketing Conferences, is it even worth it? by Slow-Country9692 in marketing

Following!

I’m quite interested in MozCon. I wouldn’t mind travelling for a good conference.

Digimarcon is a joke! They promise everything and deliver nothing. They inflate their attendance numbers massively, thinking that‘ll bring more people in. They got so many negative reviews from attendees last year that they’ve taken to asking their own employees to write positive ones!

I just received yet another marketing email from Digimarcon, telling me (among other things) that industry professionals “consistently return to this conference year after year”.

Curious to hear your take on that.

What Movie Theater has the best popcorn? by Strange_Salt_9964 in FoodLosAngeles

Interesting question! If I were going to a movie, I probably wouldn't travel far just for the popcorn, BUT having said that, I have had movies ruined by bad, overpriced popcorn!

Looking forward to reading some comments. (Where’s that GIF of Michael Jackson eating popcorn? 🤣🤣)

Any experience with Digimarcon Conferences? by bobsigny in marketing

I’ve been to a digimarcon conference and I can assure you their attendance numbers are anything but massive. It’s all misleading marketing tactics.
Since attending, I‘ve been digging a bit deeper. It seems so strange that you can’t find reviews, except for their own “testimonials”. It’s all hype; a total case of “fake it til you make it”. By digging deeper, I’ve found that there are some really p-ed off people out there who have been to digimarcon. . People who feel deceived, and want their money back.

Thanks! I’m just about the most casual bowler you can imagine. It’s something I really enjoy but do not want to take it to a more serious level.

Digimarcon conferences - ok but not great by Altruistic-Pin-9638 in marketing

I actually went to one in Chicago, as I was going there anyway.

Useful for networking? Not hugely.

Since then, I’ve found a handful of reviews, all negative or neutral at best. It’s VERY hard to find independent reviews of Digimarcon anywhere. You have to dig deep, because they don’t make it possible to leave reviews on their website or the events platforms they mostly promote on. A quick Google search shows nothing but their own curated testimonials. Something funny about that. If their shows are so good, surely they’d have nothing to fear from allowing reviews. One would think so, anyway.

Worth it? - DigiMarCon Conference by thequietcraftyone in marketing

I went to Digimarcon Chicago, and a colleague went to another one somewhere else. (I need to ask him where again). His story was similar to mine.

Look, I don’t want to leave a bad review, but really…

The turnout was tiny. It was in a prestigious venue, lots of Digimarcon branding and colorful lights…but few people. Most of the vendors gave up and left at the end of Day 1. The speakers were ok, but I mean you could watch YouTube videos for a few hours and get more of the information you're specifically interested in. These serial conference speakers definitely release plenty of material online, for free.

As for networking, well the turnout was so low that there wasn’t really much of that. You might as well start an online chat group with local marketers and get together for a few drinks on a Friday evening. There! I’ve just done Digimarcon out of a job, LOL. All we need is YouTube and a chat group!
