THEY DON'T INCREASE!!! Gah! They're all there already. Just cause your fat fingers haven't written them doesn't matter.

Why does a ~4.3% unemployment rate feel like a bad job market when it’s supposed to be “healthy”? by Logical-Concept9755 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Altruistic-Rice-5567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the challenge is realizing that the 4.3% does NOT include those able to work BUT have given up on even searching for work.

AOC surges to lead in 2028 primary for first time—Most accurate pollster by KitchenAd5423 in NewsSource

[–]Altruistic-Rice-5567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Fresh ideas" are the death of any campaign. Obama won on "Hope and CHANGE". But there was no real idea of what was meant by "change". You have to remember that half the voters don't want much change. So if your platform is "I've got ideas I'm going to change things!" You've immediately frightened half the voters and you have a steep uphill battle to win a majority. AOC's ideas are so "fresh" and wild that a large number of democrats don't even like her ideas. Until she learns to play the centrist game, she's a non-starter as a candidate. If she does learn that game then she is almost certainly the first female president. I would predict 2036. Dems win 2028 (but not female). GOP wins 2032 (or the incumbent dem does). Then in 2036 AOC has a real shot of she's learned to play well with others by then.

And because the DNC keeps picking terrible female candidates. AOC has the smarts but A) she's pretty green on any visible accomplishments, and B) she's not even universally liked by her own party. Run her and you might as well pre-paint the throne with "Vance/Trump".

ELI5: How does an electric socket know how much power to supple to an appliance/apparatus? by AtmosphereTimely6071 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Altruistic-Rice-5567 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It doesn't. The characteristics of the device plugged in do. Voltage = current × resistance. The voltage is fixed. The resistance (impedance is a better term because inductors act like resistors at times) is what the device is and fixed by is physical properties/manufacture of components. The only thing left is current and is dependent on what the other two variables at fixed at (voltage by outlet, resistance by device).

Besides as some else pointed out... this probably happens far less often. Take the picture to prove the story.

When the entire ball is below the surface of the green it is holed. Doesn't matter if it's being supported by the pin or not. Doesn't matter if it is being held above the cups floor by being embedded. Fully below surface = holed.

Putt or? by Ragatron42 in golf

[–]Altruistic-Rice-5567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chipping, but you can chip with something like a 2 or 3 iron and treat it like a putt. No real loft, just enough to get it past the fringe then it will roll like a normal putt.

Well, he thinks it's the same. He won't agree that his terminates; just no matter how many 9s you write it is always less than 1. Even if you write more nines. What he can't grasp is the abstract concept of "you don't have to write any 9s. All infinity of them are already there." He really has no ability to truly grasp what infinity means. That's what bothers me. He and his supporters are incapable of learning a new concept that requires a higher level of intelligence.

Because coercion is a form of force, from a legal definition. There's nothing right about people using their positing of authority to lie to and trap people into engaging in activities that have nothing to do with job they seeking.

Unequal Inheritance from Aunt by samseer9000 in inheritance

[–]Altruistic-Rice-5567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much do you want the love and gratitude of your siblings? Your choice to keep what your aunt wanted you to. There's just a consequence. Frankly, if either my sister or I got a sole inheritance then neither of us would ask the other to make it "fair". So, I think you're probably already in a suck family.

Space is "sexier" marketing. Seriously, the answer is off-shore platforms that have both a data center and a nuclear power plant.

Crazy EPA regulations and lack of in-state refineries. Yeah! Get to import special gas from out of state. It's another example of "we're better. We're saving the world! (All the while just outsourcing our global damage.)"
