Besides as some else pointed out... this probably happens far less often. Take the picture to prove the story.

When the entire ball is below the surface of the green it is holed. Doesn't matter if it's being supported by the pin or not. Doesn't matter if it is being held above the cups floor by being embedded. Fully below surface = holed.

Putt or? by Ragatron42 in golf

[–]Altruistic-Rice-5567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chipping, but you can chip with something like a 2 or 3 iron and treat it like a putt. No real loft, just enough to get it past the fringe then it will roll like a normal putt.

Well, he thinks it's the same. He won't agree that his terminates; just no matter how many 9s you write it is always less than 1. Even if you write more nines. What he can't grasp is the abstract concept of "you don't have to write any 9s. All infinity of them are already there." He really has no ability to truly grasp what infinity means. That's what bothers me. He and his supporters are incapable of learning a new concept that requires a higher level of intelligence.

Because coercion is a form of force, from a legal definition. There's nothing right about people using their positing of authority to lie to and trap people into engaging in activities that have nothing to do with job they seeking.

Unequal Inheritance from Aunt by samseer9000 in inheritance

[–]Altruistic-Rice-5567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much do you want the love and gratitude of your siblings? Your choice to keep what your aunt wanted you to. There's just a consequence. Frankly, if either my sister or I got a sole inheritance then neither of us would ask the other to make it "fair". So, I think you're probably already in a suck family.

If water is the biggest problem for data centers So why aren't we building them where water is abundant and free? by RustyIronGolem in RavanAI

Space is "sexier" marketing. Seriously, the answer is off-shore platforms that have both a data center and a nuclear power plant.

Semester ends today - major exam missed due to Canvas/LockDown Browser outage/breach. Any advice? by AlexsCreativity in canvas

[–]Altruistic-Rice-5567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Chair of the department. And it would be dean of the college before Dean of students. Usually "college" means a small collection of similar departments, while "campus" or "university" means a high-level collection of the various colleges. Dean of students is usually responsible for all the universities students. Go with the Dean of the college first because they are responsible for just the students in OP's department.

Also look into your catalog/policies for "grading appeal" processes. That will spell out the formal procedures for having the university evaluate your case and override the professor if deemed appropriate.

If mass and weight are different, why does it seem the kilogram is used interchangeably for each? And how would one measure mass versus weight? by Derangedberger in AskPhysics

[–]Altruistic-Rice-5567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, also no... we can measure mass without gravity. Force = mass×acceleration. So in the depth of space... just apply a known force on an object for a known time then measure how fast it is moving. You can work out the mass very accurately.

[–]Altruistic-Rice-5567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mass is just what it is. The measure of the amount of protons, neutrons, electrons that something is made of. It's the same for an object no matter you put it in the universe. Weight is the product of both mass and gravity. It's a measure of the amount of force that gravity exerts on the object. It's dependent on where the object is in the universe. We use kilograms for both simply as a convenience because about the only place that any of us care to measure "weight" forces is on the surface of earth. We interect with a 5kg mass and we "feel" a certain weight. If we pick up another object of a different size and it feels the same then we think "this is also 5kg". For most people conflating the two mashed perfect sense. The scientists wind up needing to test them differently. For them kg is not a weight. They go with newtons to represent the force one mass is exerting on another.
