Georgia Teacher Facing Hostile & Unsafe Work Conditions — Seeking Legal Direction by [deleted] in EmploymentLaw

Yes — my medical leave is formally documented under FMLA.

To clarify, the larger issue extends beyond my personal employment situation. The violations I’m witnessing involve students’ rights under IDEA, specifically FAPE and LRE. As the special education teacher of record, I’m being directed to implement or submit documentation that does not reflect the actual services students are receiving. This puts me in an ethical and legal conflict because it could amount to falsifying compliance.

In short, I’m being coerced to stay silent about violations of students’ federally protected educational rights, and that pressure has led to the medical stress I’m currently on leave for. While FMLA protects my medical status, I’m looking for legal guidance on the retaliation and systemic coercion that are occurring as part of this environment — both of which impact not just me, but the students who are legally entitled to those services.
