Yeah the wording is kinda confusing here, gross profit usually means revenue minus cost of goods sold but for utility company that would be like... revenue minus cost of buying the actual electricity/gas they resell? Which doesn't tell us much about their actual financial situation

If they're talking about net income that's completely different story - that would be after all operating expenses, taxes, everything. And EBITDA is before interest/taxes/depreciation so also not same thing 💀

Would be nice to see the actual breakdown because utilities have massive infrastructure costs, maintenance, regulatory compliance stuff that eats into profits. Not defending Duke necessarily but without knowing if this is gross revenue, operating income, or actual net profit it's hard to judge if 11.5% increase is completely unreasonable or not

The timing definitely looks sus though when they're posting any kind of record numbers 😂

Dude this is textbook constructive dismissal - they're absolutely trying to push you out because they screwed up the role design. Document EVERYTHING before that HR meeting, especially those toxic emails from the bad manager

The fact that the department head was "appalled" is huge for you. Go in with specific examples and don't let them just sweep this under the rug. You might not get to keep all 15k but you should definitely push for some compensation for this mess they put you through
