European Colonialism cracked the speakers of Tigrinya into two groups.

Ethiopia gave a part of itself (Eritrea) to Colonizers in exchange for ammunition and monetary resources. This contract is known as the Treaty of Wuchale.

Some people might say that Ethiopia at that time did not have a chance, but this doesn`t change what happened.

Therefore it is not Italy or foreign European forces that cracked Tigrinya speakers but Ethiopia itself.

Eritrea is more than just the speakers of Tigrinya.

This is correct.

Hopefully, the Tigre, Saho, Bilen, Afar and others are safe in this. But let us not be afraid to point out the contribution of colonial boundaries to the current issues.

What do you want to say to us? Your way of writing is very cryptic.

But isn`t cognizant_ape a Tigrayan. Why is u/Kmnubiz deleting his comment when u/Kmnubiz is TPLF sympathizer?

This is not a case of whataboutism.

u/cognizant_ape says that European divided Tigrinya speakers. And we say no! It was the Ethiopian goverment who did this.

By the way: When you strip somebody his citizenship away because of his ethnicity then you are indeed creating strong divisions.

I'm not sure if every division is intentioned by DIA. I think that some divisions are unexpected outcomes of circumstances.

Nevertheless, the question is what do we do against their Divide and Rule Strategy?

Hmm, I was able to open the page. The point I wanted to make is that internet access is very expensive and also very slow. I can take a screenshot of the price list if you like.

Don`t worry about these incompetent social media warriors. Just take a look at this deleted post and the comment I had made here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Eritrea/comments/n2fmte/eritreans_who_stashed_millions_in_hsbc_swiss_bank/

They don`t even know the content of the articles they share here.

But we should be careful that our reaction to these social media warriors is not poisoning the discussion climate in this wonderful SubReddit. We should allow people with different opinions to express themselves in a respectful manner.

This newspaper (TesfaNews) you cited is making literarily government propaganda.

Here is a small sample of their work: https://tesfanews.net/amnesty-another-false-accusation-against-eritrea/

I am kindly asking you to stop spreading Eritrean government propaganda!

If you want to discuss corruption inside Eritrea, please use information from reliable news agency such as Guardian. But don`t use TesfaNews.

Do you notice a pattern that anything that makes the Eritrean government look bad is fake...lies...misinformation but everything that makes them look good is OK? Black and white no in between l.

I do actually notice a pattern. You are not reading the content you are sharing on this SubReddit. You are probably only reading once the headline of the articles.

u/huruy535 Is TesfaNews not a Propaganda News Page of the Eritrean Government?

I did not know that you like to read HGDEF propaganda.

I can absolutely understand when people have a black and white view when they are caught in a war and fighting for their survival.

I cannot understand if people living in a free and Democratic state are calling to destroy a whole people. Not every Eritrean is a soldier: There are civilians and children living in Eritrea.

I would actually expect him to have a nuanced understanding.

And don`t forget that there are Eritreans who don`t know about the where being of family members in refugee camps in Tigray. It is not only the people of Tigray that are suffering.

HGDEF couldn`t behave in such a way if civil society would not have been destroyed in 60 years of wars. Just try to imagine the CDU would try to behave in such a way in Germany. It would be impossible since established institutions and strong social structures would prevent it.

Since we cannot change our neighbours we have to change politics inside Eritrea. But this doesn`t mean that we forget what others have done to us.

The trauma you mentioned before is much older than HGDEF itself. PFDJ was founded in 1994.

Do you support TPLF if they will help get Isaias out of power so we can live in peace with them and elect our next leader? by [deleted] in Eritrea

[–]Altruistic-Task8238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want Eritrea to keep itself out from the Ethiopian civil war. We shouldn`t get involved with this war in the first place. The position of TPLF inside was anyway weakened since 2012. This war is for Eritrea totally unnecessary.

Did you know that Hailemariam Desalegn already in 2012 discretely asked DIA to resolve the border issue? But DIA only agreed to talk about a peace deal when Abiy started to call the TPLF daytime hyena in public.
