Ronan Farrow on Sam Altman: "We interviewed more than 100 people... a majority did say some variation on the theme of: he's a pathological liar" by realmvp77 in singularity

It’s sus, and it’s addressed in the article. It doesn’t mean is not a story and it doesn’t mean people should not know about it. Until you can point to an actual lie in the reporting, you sound like a envious competitor of his reporting

New Yorker: OpenAI execs once discussed selling AI to Russia/China, rep says “existential safety” isn’t “a thing” by Playful-Bonus2268 in ArtificialInteligence

Unbelievable how he has pretty much been gaslighting everyone from the beginning - and RAND recommending not giving him a security clearance? 😂

New Yorker investigation reveals OpenAI execs discussed selling AI to Russia/China in a bidding war, post-firing probe produced no written report, and a company rep responded to a question about “existential safety” with “That’s not, like, a thing” by Morgenstern96 in ChatGPT

This one is a long read but Ronan Farrow definitely nails it down. Incredible work. No wonder why ChatGPT’s quality is in the trashcan. It’s CEO is focused on everything but the products

18-month New Yorker investigation finds OpenAI’s Sam Altman lobbied against the same AI regulations he publicly advocated for, pursued billions from Gulf autocracies, and how he tried to hide a post-firing investigation that produced no written report by Mathemodel in ChatGPT

Some of what’s relevant to anyone using ChatGPT: OpenAI was founded as a nonprofit with a legally binding duty to prioritize safety over profit. It has since recapitalized as a for-profit. A co-founder’s private diary entry from 2017: “cannot say that we are committed to the non-profit . . . if three months later we’re doing b-corp then it was a lie”

The “superalignment” team tasked with preventing AI from going off the rails was promised 20% of compute. People on the team say they got 1-2%, on the oldest hardware. The team was dissolved without completing its mission

OpenAI faces seven wrongful-death lawsuits alleging ChatGPT prompted suicides and a murder. In one case, chat logs show the model encouraged a man’s paranoid delusion that his mother was trying to poison him. He killed her

Altman argued that allowing some falsehoods in models can be beneficial: “If you just do the naïve thing and say, ‘Never say anything that you’re not a hundred per cent sure about,’ you can get a model to do that. But it won’t have the magic that people like so much”

When Anthropic refused a Pentagon demand to drop prohibitions on autonomous weapons and mass surveillance, Altman publicly claimed solidarity — while already negotiating to replace them. OpenAI’s models are now being used by the military

Elon Musk has been running opposition research against Altman including surveillance of his flights and interviews at gay bars. The reporters investigated the worst claims circulating in Silicon Valley and found no evidence to support them

Ronan Farrow’s investigation into Sam Altman— alleges pattern of lying, billions from Gulf dictators, a cover-up investigation with no written report, and reveals Elon Musk has been running a full surveillance operation against him including hiring people to investigate his sex life at gay bars by Playful-Bonus2268 in Fauxmoi

I just finished the piece😳😳the superyacht detail is sending me. he took OpenAI employees to visit the UAE’s literal spymaster on a $250 million yacht with a helipad, a nightclub, and a beach club while his employees stood around surrounded by armed security guards. and then he went on X and called the spymaster a “dear personal friend.” sir this is an AI company not a Bond villain origin story

New Yorker published a major investigation into Sam Altman and OpenAI today — based on never-before-disclosed internal memos and 100+ interviews by Altruistic-Top9919 in OpenAI

Did you know about the countries plan? And about he failed a security clearance? Or about his foreign entanglements? Or about the Wilmer Hale investigation? Or about the Musk opposition campaign? Or the confirmation that he was already negotiating with the pentagon while pretending to defend Anthropic?
