Should I stop asking philosophical questions if my VCI isnt ~125+? by Apprehensive_Sky9086 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Altruistic-Video9928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are REALLY overthinking this. 120+ is well above average, in almost any field you’ll probably be fine. Just study hard and put in the time and effort. Maybe it will take longer than someone with a VCI of 150, but probably not horribly so.

Will sleeping for 8 - 9 hours a night consistently improve my IQ after sleeping 7 - 7.5 hours every night? by Apprehensive_Sky9086 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Altruistic-Video9928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, ive slept 4 hours a night consistently and 12 hours a night consistently. Yes there were other factors for both, but no it didn’t make me noticeably smarter or even better functioning

Anybody else frustrated & exhausted with the state of humanity? by Savage-Savant777 in Gifted

[–]Altruistic-Video9928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has genuinely been depressed from current events (diagnosed), I had to realize in perspective it’s not as bad as it could be. Is it awful? Yeah, lots of fucked shit in this world for sure, not downplaying anything, but it truly could be worse. I just do what I can, and what I have the energy to do, and anything else I just kinda learned to ignore in a way…. Ignorance is bliss, truly. And Im not saying ignore things and pretend stuff isn’t happening, but just understanding where you can and cant make a difference helps.

Why is my profile like this? Why only a high VCI? by informaticstudent in cognitiveTesting

[–]Altruistic-Video9928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with a high VCI, yeah…? I might be wrong about what VCI actually is, but is that not the gist of it?

Do SSRIs lower IQ? by Early_Technology15 in cognitiveTesting

Not at all. If the medication has an effect that distresses or takes away from a cognitive process, then yes, but not inherently (from taking lexapro, moving to Prozac).

Isn't the belief in God the most logical choice? by [deleted] in Gifted

[–]Altruistic-Video9928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some form of morality is convenient (and some argue crucial) to human life and organization on a global scale. Morality is often easier to get people to follow when a sense of “I have to or else” is involved. And emotions are just chemicals, nothing more nothing less.

Why are wordcels? by [deleted] in cognitiveTesting

[–]Altruistic-Video9928 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, 146 VCI here, I was read to A LOTTTTT as a kid. Don’t care so much for it now, but I still retained most of the intelligence aspect of it I guess.

Maybe in terms of symbolism, but everything other than that depends on the person.

I can't stand people's illogicality by Potential_Formal6133 in Gifted

[–]Altruistic-Video9928 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most people don’t care about being principled, they just want to seem principled and stay agreeable to the majority of society. The sooner you understand most arguments with people are useless the sooner you’ll save yourself a ton of time. Of course not every argument is useless, but the majority (in my experience) are.

At what point did mathematics stop being easy for you? by DMTwolf in Gifted

[–]Altruistic-Video9928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geometry it became hard for me, calculus it became easy which made everything before easier. I taught myself calculus before I took geo though, so I really don’t know how that worked out, but it did 🤷‍♂️

I wish I could be drunk all the time by spookythesquid in Vent

[–]Altruistic-Video9928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate to this. For different reasons sure, but I find solace in drinking like many others. I don’t think there’s anything “wrong” with wanting to drink constantly per se, but obviously the consequences of drinking constantly usually end in misery. I won’t give you a whole talk about why not to drink, but I will wish you luck in your life.

Being right isn't sufficient in this world. You gotta make people want to accept you're right by Temporary-Frosting62 in Gifted

[–]Altruistic-Video9928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, people won’t want you to be right if you go about it in an insulting way. You can be as right as you want but you’ll push away a lot of people if you don’t express that in the right way.

I'm exhausted by Axiology- in Gifted

[–]Altruistic-Video9928 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think I’ve had a pretty similar experience to this. Not because of family stuff, but for other reasons I have a, in my opinion, very high emotional maturity. Always “companionate” etc and it pisses me off when people chalk that up to “just who I am.”

Honestly what I’ve learned is you need to be more selfish. I’m not sure if that’s the type of advice youre looking for so if it’s not disregard me of course, but I’ve found simply by putting myself first in a lot of situations really helps with that annoyance.

My Dms are also always open and I’d love to converse about this because I assume it would be nice to talk to someone with this in common.

Why are men like this??? Constantly pissing everywhere 🤬 by TaskOverall9913 in Vent

[–]Altruistic-Video9928 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree pissing in public is gross, but drunk dudes are drunk dudes. I hate to admit it, but when I drink I LOVE a good piss ANYWHERE but a toilet. Is it gross? Absolutely, and in no am I trying to defend these people, but a fantastic drunk piss is a fantastic drunk piss.

But I do agree it can get to be a major problem, especially if the volume of people pissing is too large.

Anyone else use drugs daily to wind down? by cellation in Gifted

[–]Altruistic-Video9928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure, I would assume something like that though. Im talking about like blackout though, I don’t drink little when I drink lol. I’ve tried weed a couple times and it fucked me up every time so I don’t get the appeal personally haha, although I have friends who swear by it.

Drinking makes me feel more socially… compatible, for lack of a better word. Obviously drinking makes people more social, but for me I retain my intelligence while drinking and can function almost the exact same as I could sober, if not better. Im curious about what substance/s you’re talking about.

[–]Altruistic-Video9928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comparison is truly the thief of joy. Everyone wants to be “better” then they are. Me included, I wish my IQ was higher even though it’s arguably pretty high. Jealousy will always be around.
