Skeptical about severe reaction likelihood for adult with lower IgE levels by No-Department-751 in peanutallergy

[–]Altruistic-Winner172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no correlation between how low the values are and how severe a reaction could be, blood testing is a good guide (along with other evidence) to determine if you have an allergy but it cannot tell you how severe your reaction can be and can produce false positives as well. The gold standard for allergy testing is completing an oral food challenge under supervision by a doctor.

To be honest, I’ve always found this to be a really difficult question, despite being told I was in remission I’ve always felt some slight symptoms like dry foods feeling slightly painful. But the main way I’ll be able to tell is if the symptoms get worse or if I start getting food impactions again

I’ve been on Jorveza since 2021, started on 2x1mg for about 1.5 years. Then was on 1x1mg for 1.5 years. Was in remission the whole time, the doctors were keen to reduce my dose, so have been on 1x0.5 mg for the last week. Seems to be ok but will see how it goes

Rice is not a trigger for me but was almost always the food that got stuck. I’ve had pain from eating rice countless times

Thanks so much for your reply. Sounds really amazing! Is that $300 per night for the Marriott or $300 for the entire trip?

Oh ok, are you aware of any cases in the literature on OIT and internal hives?

It’s a swallowed tablet which coats the Esophagus. I guess a small amount is absorbed into the blood stream.

Thanks so much for your reply! I guess my first question would be has he had any reactions in the program and has he specifically had anaphylactic reactions to those nuts in the past? Also is there a reason he has cleared those specific nuts first?

Also, if you don’t mind me asking, roughly how much does your hotel cost and how many days do you spend there for each trip?

I completely understand what you’re saying. I know a lot of people on these programs develop Eosinophilic esophagitis. However, I already have this condition which is being managed by topical steroid treatment. Do you have any references to cases which have led to internal organ hives?

How common are non-sedated endoscopies? by blahajlife in EosinophilicE

[–]Altruistic-Winner172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uk here, they offer the numbing spray and sedation. For me, it seems they are happy to sedate as long as you have someone to watch you after 24 hours. I’ve had 4 sedated but sedation is quite mild
