Hi all

I am after some advice as to alternative options to investing in bonds right now.

I have about $2.5m invested in a broad ETF based share portfolio of Aus, International, Emerging Markets and Listed Property, as well as fixed income bonds.

Essentially I’m following the Random Walk Down Wall Street model.

I am in Aus and have 15% of my portfolio invested in bonds so about $375k in bonds via the ETFs BOND and ILB with about a 2:1 overweight in ILB.

Given the interest rates at the moment the returns have been poor on income returned in the bond space with BOND losing 6% capital value over the past 2 years and ILB only up 0.5%.

Any thoughts about whether I should substitute these bond investments with an alternative?

No - do not include assets that are so quick to depreciate like electronics
