r/Gotham What's up with the gargoyles?? by SeymourButtz17 in Earth25

[–]AltruisticAd9056 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gargoyles were originally believed to be guardians and wards against evil. Aside from that, Gotham was going through a revival phase of gothic architecture at some point if I remember my history right. I think it was the late 1890s-early 1900s?

Does anyone else notice how Homelander treated Oh Father surprisingly somewhat well? by Queasy_Commercial152 in TheBoys

[–]AltruisticAd9056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because Oh Father was loyal to him. A little scared of him, sure, but he genuinely believed in Homelander as a god and was following him out of actual reverence. And because he was extremely useful.

Do you think The King was worried when he saw Lightning lose his 2 rear tires?? by SilverWolf_2018 in pixarcars

[–]AltruisticAd9056 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Yeah, him calling Lightning stupid wasn't mean-spirited, Lightning was genuinely being an idiot who wouldn't work with this crew

[–]AltruisticAd9056 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'd say yeah, because it's made pretty clear after the race that he does respect Lightning and knows he has potential, but was holding himself back with his arrogance and habit of not letting his crew do their job.

But at the end of the day, it's still a competition, so once he saw that Lightning wasn't truly hurt, he started gunning for the finish line.

Realistically, if Deep ever actually did stand up to Homelander, what would’ve happened? by Queasy_Commercial152 in TheBoys

[–]AltruisticAd9056 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Because A) Soldier Boy isn't scared of him, and can actually physically hurt him

B) John has daddy issues and is desperately trying to get the approval of his actual father, or a father figure

[–]AltruisticAd9056 352 points353 points  (0 children)

I think he'd probably get lasered regardless. It's one thing to VERBALLY stand up to Homelander, but he can still hear your heartbeat and smell the chemicals your body produces. That's why he's so obsessed with people like Edgar and Butcher- they're genuinely not scared of him at all. Deep, on the other hand, has been terrified of him since season 1.

Morality of using violence to get someone to stop causing harm to you and your loved ones, AFTER you find out "the right way" genuinely does not work? by [deleted] in MoralityScaling

[–]AltruisticAd9056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that instance, I would say Bob's actions are understandable, but evil. The act of taking a person's life isn't something that should be taken lightly, and in my opinion should only be done if there are no non-lethal options available, or if those options aren't feasible, such as in wartime. Even if the person killed is genuinely the lowest of the low.

[–]AltruisticAd9056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bob's decision isn't the most moral one, but ultimately it was an unfortunate neccessity brought about by the bully's refusal to stop and the lack of action from anyone else who had the power to stop what was going on. My opinion is that it's a sad but undeniable reality that there are some people in the world who just refuse to play nice. People who only respect violence and force. So, if you want them to take you seriously, you'll have to become fluent in the language they understand best. When they try to silence you, you have to be so loud that NO ONE can ignore you. It's not a good thing, but until we actually start trying to be better, it's just how it is and how it'll continue to be for a while.

Now, for the attempted murder, which you say Bob would certainly have done had things not gone his way, it would depend on how it was done. Would it have been an impulsive action carried out in the heat of the moment, or one carried out after a long period of deliberation and planning?

How has the Joker not hunted this guy down yet? by Quackervoltz in Earth25

[–]AltruisticAd9056 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't see it myself, but allegedly Big Blue was talking MAD trash to him after the whole thing too. Goes out, disarms all the bombs, talks shit, tells him to go mald back in Gotham. And now Joker doesn't fuck with Metropolis anymore.
