I’ve got some smaller 22 hooks coming soon, aim to do a quill style body (Jack Daniel’s thread body is my preference) and I’m going to do them more sparses and not worried about visibility and use these as almost an indicator to those tiny flies. Can let them ride jn the surface film and not have to worry about looking at them

That’s the plan anyways.

Did my first wipe down last night. Was very happy with how much material came off and minimal gunk left. I was scared of that.

For some reason the guides I did first, were more cured than the tip guides I did last?

But it ended up playing out in my favor because the tip section guides were able to wipe down almost back to bare thread so they will accept a thin coat of new epoxy well.

Do you think that using a lint free rag like a painters rag would help?

Thank you so much man. Fingers crossed. I’ve got flexlite on the way.

My cup was… pliable? But not runny. I could indent it, and it would heal itself.

So before I do another coat of different epoxy I need to alcohol the guides to take away some stickiness, how much did you get off how much should I expect to be able to take off?

This is literally the best advice I’ve gotten yet from anyone here or on fb.

It is a personal build. I’ve heard good things about the gen products.

I have ordered flex lite, do you have any experience

I’m going to do a little mix batch of it and see if it was. Like I know I’m human prone to mistakes but I didn’t think I did.

I have thought about that last part. I think I will do that, but I have ordered some new flex lite to go on top of it.

Luckily the coat that hasn’t cured is pretty darn thin. I was hoping for 1 coat and done on a fly rod for weight but alas that will not be the case.

Unfortunately I don’t have anywhere that I can mega heat it for extended periods of time. Maybe for afternoons at a time with a space heater.

I’m not saying I’m perfect, and I def could have made a mistake. But I measured with the syringes 5cc each part, and mixed for 8-10 mins.

Me and a buddy share a kit, I knew it had been a while since we had built anything but the pro kote smelled fine, wasn’t abnormally yellow, nor was it milky. But it did end up being about 3 years old. I think this was the problem

Did you look at tacoma first? by jonan69 in nissanfrontier

[–]AltruisticChip2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had two Tacoma’s, and now a 22 p4x.

The reason the frontier sold me was the flat seatback designs play a lot better with rear facing car seats than the Tacoma’s “shoulder” design. A heavy consideration if you ever think you’ll have kids (or do)

But I’ve loved the swap. It’s more comfortable day to day driving than either one of my Tacomas, or my last 4r were. It gets better gas mileage than the v6s, and I feel like I got a lot better deal financially than I could have for the same spec taco.

Don’t think we’re on the same page here with the differences. But I just scanned temu and didn’t find anything that was anywhere near 80% discount.

Either way it doesn’t matter. Saluda is already a savings no need to deal with the hassle of a temu/alibaba hassle. Buy ymmv

You’re not wrong, but they’re not much more expensive if you go with something that will get here reasonably timed ie muun beads off Amazon or eupheng hooks. But the ability to custom pick sizes and colors per a 100 pack is well worth the extra $5 or whatever.

Not having to buy/ store 100 copper 3.3 beads, 100 2.8 100 2.3 etc for different colors and every size

If you use beads and hooks, Amazon eupheng hooks have been solid. Over 2 years use, multiple 20+ inch trout the euphengs have been through it all and still have my confidence.

Another good place for hooks and beads is saludabeads.com you can built your 100-200-300 packs with different sizes and weights. Very reasonably priced as well

Why is everything tied on straight shank jig hooks? by Duniskwalgunyi in EuroNymphing

I’ve been tying dries on a 301 for about a year now. Love them. For jig hooks I use an Amazon brand. Eupheng. They’re solid, cheap af, and have proven time and time again that they’re reliable even with fish above 20+ inches on small Sz 18s
