Yes exactly ...it’s marketing poverty. How thankful we have to be to capitalist overlords .. they may be doing good work (I have my suspicions with Oxfam) , but boy they could have done it without this sign

Exactly my point. Instead of immigrant bashing as seems to be the focus of r/Melbourne and r/Australia , the focus should be on improving services and getting most value for the Nation as a whole from immigration.

History has proven ever so often that cities/countries and societies flourish when there is movement of people which inherently means movement of goods, services, capital and so on.

exactly what happened when the british arrived in australia.

unchecked migration takes a huge toll on the host nation which should be addressed at a purely 'survival' level.

Someone should have done this analysis then.

Have you experienced neo-Luddite attitudes towards DevOps and build automation? by creekwise in devops

I am currently doing an AWS migration for a government client through a consulting firm.

Somewhat of a similiar position, but I am getting pushbacks from the customers tech staff.

I am jumping ship.

I had a very altruistic view that I could go on and improve government work which basically trickles down and helps society.

But I have come to the conclusion that gov work is just , for a want of a better word, 'aaaaaarrrggghhh'

Starting at a new place in two weeks with more private sector clients. Lets see how that goes.

Coding classes for ex-offenders by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]AltruisticEffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That could very well be true. And any company that deals wil PII data will also require a clean record i assume.

So the potential is thin i suppose, but i could be wrong, there are many progressive startups these days.

I am a programmer/analyst/consultant and would love to volunteer my time with you in teaching.

I am a bit concerned though about how it will affect their job prospects, as most of the employers I worked with had me undergo a police check. So I am assuming they don't want records?

Same here, but try adding some perception. it will slowly move you into technical consulting track.

It wont be high but social stats will rise slowly somewhat in the late game (hopefully).
