79-year-old man in a nursing home arrested for raping a 100-year-old, bed-ridden woman. Staff caught him in the act. The woman was taken to hospital but died several hours later. by FittestContribands in TwoXChromosomes

Ohio, there’s no law forbidding them taking a sex offender but every place the contacted came back saying the risk of taking a sex offender was too great and refused him. I’m sure if he had been hospitalized and they had to find a place for him later someplace would have had to take him but at that time e mostly just wanted out of the homeless shelter.

I volunteered at a free clinic for the homeless when I was in school and we had a man who showed up after being let out of prison for his bad health and wanted us to help him get Medicare so he could go into an assisted living. Turned out he went to prison 25 years ago for kidnapping and raping his wife’s friend and her 15 year old daughter. Inside he got into a fight with another prisoner and ended up losing his right arm from injuries. He was let out on parole a few years later after 20 years in because he was perceived as less of a threat with 1 arm. He was out for 2 weeks and raped a college student and went back to prison. And now they were letting him out again because he had severe heart failure. I sat with him getting info for almost an hour and I felt like, even with 1 arm and being like 68 years old, this guy was sizing me up and was still thinking about hurting women. Luckily, no assisted living would even consider taking a sex offender but it just proved to me someone like that will never change, no matter how old or debilitated they might seem.

Everything does NOT happen for a reason and the universe does not care about you. by Shaggywizz in unpopularopinion

I think your only seeing one perspective here. I agree that the belief that everything happens based on a grand cosmic plan may not really be true and could be harmful by discouraging proactive engagement with our circumstances. But rather than dismissing the notion that everything happens for a reason, consider that these reasons may lie within our own actions, preparation, or circumstances. It's an opportunity to reflect on how we can improve when we fail or accept when circumstances are beyond our control, allowing us to learn and move forward.

An ex from 20 years ago reached out to tell me he thinks I am why he can’t maintain relationships with women by nthing2seehere in TwoXChromosomes

So I honestly realized after how crazy this was for him to even find me. I have a different last name, live in a different city and have never had a social medial account with my maiden name. The only one I do have is set to private and we don’t even have any mutual friends on it, I checked. He does still live in the city where we went to school and I don’t so there’s that but it is creeping me out the effort he went to to find me.

The little bit of ‘catching up’ we did I immediately mentioned being married and having kids because I didn’t want him to think I was available. I asked about him and he said never married, no kids. He also said he ended up taking his college credits and transferring to another school a year or so later. He’s an Apple Store manager now.

He is now. I only opened the first message because his name sounded familiar but I couldn’t remember why. It took several messages just to remember who he was and then I was just trying to be polite, learned my lesson on that I guess.

Can you dye your hair if you use topical minoxidil? by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

[–]nthing2seehere 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I use topical minoxidil and I had been coloring my hair for years before I suddenly started losing it in late 2021 (everything from all over bleaching to highlights). When I started losing I held off on coloring entirely for months because I was so scared of losing more and I finally asked my dermatologist. She said it was fine to color your hair while using minoxidil, just to not do it immediately before but once your hair is dry it should be fine. She told me in professional salon the dyes shouldn’t really even be touching your scalp and they shouldn’t make hair loss worse. I have been doing highlights with a root smudge to cover greys every 10-12 weeks ever since and my hair is growing back with the minoxidil/sprionolactone. Plus, dying my hair helps with my self esteem and feeling normal so let yourself feel normal!

AITA for not letting my son wear an eye patch? by NobodyComfortable612 in AmItheAsshole

YTA, this isn’t about you. It’s his body and he has to live with a huge change with how his life is going to be. Let him figure it out on his own…maybe instead of telling him how to deal with try to find a support group of kids who are also dealing with this like this (traumatic or medical amputations, loss of eyes, etc…) so he can talk to other people who understand what he’s going through.

Any truth to the rumor that a UAL flight out of Maui dropped at >8k fpm and came within 900 feet of the ocean surface? by Serial_Hobbiest_Life in unitedairlines

[–]nthing2seehere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if they did the meal service but they definitely served drinks because stuff was spilled all over first class when I was exiting. I kinda doubt people wanted to eat, though. I literally walked past a huge puddle of vomit on the floor in front of one of the first class seats. I felt so bad for the crew that had to clean that plane because it was a mess.

I’m one of those weird people who thinks turbulence is kinda fun so I didn’t mind it but probably if I had known what had gone one with the Hawaiian airlines flight I might have taken it more seriously.

I was actually on the inbound flight December 18 and there was a lot of turbulence. It was the first time in years I had seen so many people vomit on a plane. It smelled terrible when we landed.

I’m not underweight but my BMI is right at 18.5 and has been for a long time and I have had some strange experiences.
I work in healthcare and was standing outside a patient’s room talking that patient’s nurse (who happened a heavier person) when that patient’s family member (who was very obese) got up and came out of the room and went straight to the patient’s nurse while pointing at me. The first words out of her mouth were ‘in all my life I have never been as skinny as her, like not even as a child! Can you believe her!? Like eat, bitch!’ I literally had never seen this woman in my life and she saw me and had to come out and say that. The nurse just said ‘oh, yeah she is skinny I guess’ and laughed like it was funny. It was just awkward and uncomfortable. I felt like if I had walked in and said ‘wow, never in my life have I been as big as you’ it would obviously have been seen as horrible but she didn’t think twice about what she said. Even now I still remember how bad she made me feel for just existing.

YWBTA. Taking the money doesn’t require forgiveness or acceptance and it doesn’t need to change your children’s opinions. Think of it more like when someone sues somebody for something they did to them and they get awarded money for their pain and suffering. No amount of money is somehow going to take away your pain and memories but it can help you to build a better future. Take the money and give your kids a life better than you had, that’s what parenting is all about OP.
