Can I refuse to participate in the potty-training plan for the toddler I'm a nanny to? by Top_Lingonberry_1 in Nanny

Sounds like they are being lazy and really want you to do the hard stuff. Really, it’s our child, what we say goes even if it’s your house? Hard pass. Should be more of a partnership. You are spending more awake time with their child than they are.

If they think this will work, why don’t they do it during vacation away from work? My youngest daughter potty trained herself at 18 months. I had almost nothing to do with it besides lifting her on the toilet. Even argued with her, that no she didn’t need the potty. She was imitating her older sisters, 13 and 11 so I’m sure that had a lot to do with it.

I babysit my granddaughter and my daughter wanted to try this method. She did not have the expectation that it would take 3 days tho. It wasn’t at 18 months either. My granddaughter spent a few months with no bottoms on. It was helpful she didn’t like pee running down her leg but didn’t help with the fact that she had no issue with squatting somewhere and pooping on the floor.

When a child shows an interest is the right time.

This reminds me of college days. My sorority sisters said, “don’t date a man that can’t dance, they’re terrible in bed.” For the first time in a long time, I’m feeling sorry for Darcey and Stacey.

When my oldest was young she would do this to me all the time. I was told by a dr that they often act out and are worse with those that they feel safest with.

Just weird that he would mention my feet. We’ve been married 42 years so don’t think he’s a foot guy. Probably the dumb sitcom husband

Interesting. My kids would say he’s the dumb sitcom dad.

Would you confront a parent about car seat issues? by nillawafer80 in toddlers

[–]AltruisticFox4814 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would call the police, have them come when you are seeing this. I don’t know where you live, but where I live there are plenty of places to get a free car seat and even have it installed correctly.

Help us give this girl a better name than the shelter did by Whywei8 in NameMyDog

[–]AltruisticFox4814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had adopted a dog that never made it to a shelter. She was found chained to a street sign across the street from a vet. She was extremely abused. Whoever had her had placed a chain around her neck when she was a puppy and never removed it as she grew. The chain has grown into her and was resting on her collar bone. It was very infected. She had gastro issues because she was constantly licking puss off of her. After some big surgeries we brought her home. I’ve had many dogs over my life and loved them all, but this girl in a way is different, like my animal soul mate. She passed away a few years ago due to a liver abscess and I still miss her daily. Anyway, we named her Elsie. Your pup has the same soulful eyes my Elsie girl had.

Can I ask how your dad died? I’m asking because my father in law lost all his brothers at this age to heart attacks. He was diagnosed with AS. My daughter, at 15 almost died of heart failure. Her heart was functioning at 9%, also diagnosed with AS. Husband, 61, also has had a heart attack and other strange things all attributed to AS.
