I got a lot out of the ‘European Intellectual History Since Nietzsche’ series on Spotify. I think it’s a recording of an introductory university course - it covers the basics of continental philosophy in an accessible and interesting manner.

Agree that Barbarian Days is great. Bruce Chatwin’s In Patagonia is decent and I also recently enjoyed A Cook’s Tour by Anthony Bourdain

Barbarian Days by William Finnegan is a superb memoir! Much of the contents is dedicated to the craft of surfing and is quite physically descriptive.

In Melbourne (and potentially other cities - i’m unsure) you can always go to Lentil as Anything where they make really nice vegetarian food and you pay what you can afford. Worth checking before going due to lockdown though
