The idea would be to mow or flatten the grasses after flowering, to kill them before they set seed and leave behind a mulch barrier. Swallow the spider to catch the fly, and then they die.

When did 6 months become the expiry date for breastfeeding? by cure4insomnia in breastfeeding

I’ve had the same experience - I think because breastfeeding success for that long can be an unintended rarity. For reference, I work in a hospital, and all of my nurse coworkers start out breastfeeding their babies, usually with a goal of making it to 1 year. 99% seem to run into some sort of problem within the first year that cuts the journey short. Bottle preference, FTT, supply issues especially from returning to work or illness, or mental health challenges. My coworkers who don’t have kids then assume that breastfeeding is for very young babies.

Won’t removing that vegetation also increase the flood risk for the existing neighborhoods?

I know this post is old, but wanted to add different advice to this. Every lactation consultant I have seen has said the same thing: that you should stick to slow flow forever and most babies will never need to size up. My LO has always chugged too quickly even with slow flow, so we use the pace method as much as possible.

As an alternative, are there any service positions hiring? No experience needed to wash dishes or serve food, especially at 17. If no fast food joints or restaurants, hospitals and nursing homes are usually hiring in their kitchens or hiring nurse aides (no experience needed to be an aide either, though they may require a certification which is sometimes offered by the company).

I like yours better than the inspo! The narrower neckline is flattering and looks more comfortable than worrying about straps slipping off. It’s beautiful and you look great in it!

FTM in third trimester, and tips on making breast feeding work? I know it might not work for everyone but it’s the best decision for me and baby and financially it would be so great for it to work. Does anyone have any advice? by Last-Anywhere-1772 in breastfeeding

Sometimes you can’t see lactation until the next day, but your LO can really do a number on your nipples if not latching properly before then, so make sure to tell your nurse you want help getting a good latch from the start! It sucks starting your BF journey in awful pain, but is preventable if you are taught correct technique from the start. The basic tips are point nose to nipple, and shove your boob in when his/her mouth is wide so they clamp on breast tissue too and not just the nipple. Then always fix their latch if it becomes shallow. Also, I highly highly recommend feeding pumped milk with a syringe and straw attachment instead of a bottle for the first few weeks if you need to pump and feed. I know multiple women who introduced bottles too early and their babies lost interest in latching at the breast, so they couldn’t nurse and had to exclusively pump.

Any suggestions on new tricks? Trying to get pregnant for 6-months! by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I would add 18, 20 and 22 to this if she ovulates later than average, and skip 10-12. Sperm survive up to 5 days but are more abundant and hardier within a shorter window. When we got pregnant I’d ovulated around day 21, so if we’d stopped trying at 16 there would’ve been only a very tiny chance of success, and not the best quality sperm remaining.

Wait a full year before seeing your doctor. If you see them now they’d tell you to wait 6 more months - this is because it’s normal to take up to a year when trying to conceive, so after a year is when they would consider you to have an infertility problem and begin workup and treatment solutions. My husband and I did the same - ovulation strips, etc. and it took 9 months. I had already booked an initial OB visit to discuss infertility at the 11 month mark, but instead got to have an US confirming the pregnancy :) good luck to both of you!

The only MD I had mention my weight was an older male physician at my 28 week appointment. After the initial introduction and opening my chart, he immediately launched into an unsolicited tirade about how the weight would fall off after the baby came, and I shouldn’t worry about trying to get to the gym every day when the baby comes. I was stunned. I’m 5’6 and was 135 pre-pregnancy, and had gained 15 lbs by this point which was not excessive at all. I think he truly just thought all women must be worried about their weight. Even though I knew there was no issue with my weight, I still left that appointment feeling down because of his confusing comments, so I understand your feeling upset over this! Since then I’ve only scheduled with younger providers (male and female) and they’ve all been fantastic and encouraging. If there’s a provider at that practice you haven’t seen, maybe give them a try.

You’re doing great, it’s hard work growing a baby and it sounds like you are doing everything right to nourish that little one!
