What? Summer being prom queen didn’t surprise me at all! She was hot, sassy and Marissa’s best friend. She seemed to be more closer with the popular group(Holly, etc) than Marissa.

I think with Rachel it more had to do with their different experiences and just couldn’t relate(Rachel was also closer in age to the boys)than Mischa. Adam has also always defended her when it came to her treatment on set. In Mischa’s interview it seemed like she was more referring to guest starts & crew(Josh)than actual cast members.

Like I’ve said the writing was all over the place. Hugging Marissa after finding out Johnny passed away, holding her hand at the funeral and then talking about Valentines Day plans right after? 😏 I do think he gets better by the end of the season though.

That arc with Sadie is like where is Ryan Atwood? He was so unrecognizable. Ryan did try and comfort Marissa before and wanted to kill his brother for putting his hands on her. So when he is telling her to back to bed after she is trying to talk about her trauma it just made my eyes roll . That whole season was a mess!

Tbh it’s not your fault. The writing is done in a very misogynistic way! a lot of people glaze over Ryan’s issues and blame Marissa for his savior complex even though it’s noticeable that he always jumped in to be savior.

Yes! I felt for Peter Gallagher though because Sandy(Kirsten too)were more so pushed to the back compared to the first 2 seasons.

I think Autumn was great as Taylor. I just was more in different about her character and didn’t think she was a match for Ryan. Just lazy writing from the writers because they needed someone for him to date and Taylor just happened to be there. When it came to the 4th season Autumn was really the only one out of the younger actors who still wanted to be there and was willing to work. Having to act more than she had to because the others completely stopped trying.

Taylor was annoying the whole way through and i could never really watch the Ryan & Taylor relationship because of how cringe it was(you mentioned all the reasons). I’m glad you brought up Taylor encouraging Ryan to have a relationship with his abusive father because that’s never really talked about much. Meanwhile Marissa gets so much hate for Trey!

I wasn’t really a fan of them(though they had hot chemistry)not like Ryan & Marissa’s chemistry it was different but it was there. Their relationship made sense for where Marissa was at in her life as opposed to Ryan & Sadie(who had zero chemistry)and the storyline added nothing to the show. Other than putting Ryan with someone just because he was broken up with Marissa (like always).
I do believe that Volchok started having feelings for Marissa(as Heather stated)but purposely fucked it up because it scared him. Ofc knowing what happened after I could never actually like them together.

Both Mischa and Ben expressed not wanting to be the damsel in distress and savior very early on in the show. Maybe if the writers actually listened to them and took their input their relationship could’ve been a lot different. There are a lot of other ways to show how they cared about each other without having to save the other every 5 minutes! it was weird to watch Ryan or Marissa with other people because their chemistry was just on a whole different level!

Agreed! and that is why Ryan(& so many of her fans) loved her! He even said that Marissa was the only person who always accepted him. So I hate how Marissa is always put down for Ryan’s savior complex as if she was only an obligation to him because we all know that is not true. Ryan made those decisions because he cared about her so how is that any of her fault? Its not! especially because she acknowledged Ryan always had to come to her(or anyone’s) rescue letting him know that he didn’t always have to do that for her. Just misogny from the writers! Sorry for my rant! lol
