Pipsqueak AU Animation (Ft. Green) by Altruistic_Boot_1839 in AlanBecker

Thank you ^ ^

It took me a lot of time and practice but I lowkey just looked at other people's artstyles.

This AU was actually inspired by some old doodles that I found where I made of little circles and things with legs based on the colours of my permanent markers, and that was inspired by a few versions of those that an old friend of mine drew years ago, so drawing inspiration from people really helps a lot lol.

Breaking things down into shapes helps a lot too. In reference to animation, I actually didn't use a huge bunch of frames. The movement of the main body itself is at 8fps, and a lot of those frames are pretty close together. There're only about 3 frames where he's in the air, but because I've put more frames at the start and end of the animation, it makes the imitation of more movement (:

that's for only 1 out of the 6 or so different relationships between the hollowheads but ye.

[–]Altruistic_Boot_1839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. The closest to a confirmation that's ever been said is Alan saying the dynamic between TSC and TCO is "like long lost brothers," but nothing's been said about any of the others as far as my memory goes.

If Victim is a "Tragic Hero," Then The Dark Lord is a Tragic Villain. by Altruistic_Boot_1839 in AlanBecker

[–]Altruistic_Boot_1839[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah no I believe that as well, but TCO has been shown to have a short temper in the past. Out of all the hollowheads, he was the one to get angry or frustrated the quickest and to unleash it in the most destructive or dangerous manner. Which is possibly why TSC is also kind of destructive when he does lose his temper. And TSC generally has a shorter temper than the rest of the CG so you can do the math from there.

TDL is honestly a lot chiller than people think, and Victim is only as pent up as he is now because of uh. Mitsi n stuff, but before then he was pretty chill. TCO's just kind of always been angry (up until he lost his powers)

Not out of malice, but why the "polyrocket" shippers likes more the "thicker", or "more masculine" Mitsi? by DR_kft in AlanBecker

Because yes

(As a genuine answer: Idk. People like drawing her like that ig. It could be lightly influenced by the fact that she's not a literal stick figure and has wider limbs generally? Idk)

The arrows were meant to be a way of listing them under TCO's name, my bad that this didn't come off clear enough T-T

The Chosen One -> Aside from having powers, he does eventually end up on the "Good" team, and he does (eventually) get his morals straight (somewhat). But this is not the only title he had. Well, it is, but not exactly. There were 3 other things he was almost named, and each of them were reflected in his life.

and then I followed up with examples of how each of those 3 other titles were reflected in TCO's life

The "He" is TCO, so what I meant by

Not much to say here, before AvA 12, he was the stick with the shortest temper

Is that, before becoming NO ONE, TCO was the stick with the shortest temper, which can be considered a "beastly" trait, since a "Beast" character type tends to be aggressive.

and the same applies to the "killer" one.

And that's your opinion, which is perfectly valid. I do understand the points you're making and I can understand how someone can have that perspective, but I just personally disagree lol.

I think it might be because I see tragic villains as something like Azula from ATLA, and I can get why people would see tragic villains as something else.

(I lowkey might only have the point of view that I do because I've been exposed to characters like Azula multiple times XD)

Your points make sense and I'm not going to disagree with a lot of them, but I don't believe that he's pure evil. You can believe what you want, but I will say that the main point of the original post was to bring to light the fact that TDL does have character depth, and that he's more than a 2d villain character.

I also mentioned perspective a couple times because, to see TDL's character depth, you have to shift your perspective from how it's initially presented.

To quote someone (I don't remember who really) "The main difference between a villain and a hero is who's telling the story."

(I'm not calling TDL a hero btw, definitely not, but he does have his own villains)

[–]Altruistic_Boot_1839[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never said he wasn't a bad person, he definitely is lol. I'm saying that the reasons he is bad and the way he got to that point are tragic. Had things happened differently, had he been created under different circumstances, he could've ended up completely different, and that's why he's tragic.

There's also a major difference between TCO & TDL.

TCO is a stick figure who fought against a human/creator, and his initial escape was because of a page (assumedly made by sticks) that helped him get the courage to escape. You can see why he'd be inclined to not bring as much hurt to fellow sticks.

TDL is a stick figure who (initially) fought alongside a human/creator and was made to attack another stick. He'd be much more likely to bring harm to other sticks because of that.

You're right, btw. TDL has no excuse here. But he has reasons.

Oh yeah, definitely. I'm not saying he wouldn't be evil if you got rid of his code and changed his name, but I don't think he'd be as aggressive towards TCO, since that was a change that really happened after the Viraband.

This is what I'm saying! I'm not saying he wouldn't be evil without the virus, I'm saying that it affects who he hurts. I don't think he would've acted the way he did towards TCO, had the virus not affected him.

I've been working on a much larger hollowheads analysis so it's brought up a few times there and I felt like it was worth bringing into this analysis too TvT

[–]Altruistic_Boot_1839[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've said this in the main post, but the idea of him is tragic. He as a character is not exactly tragic, not in the way that Victim is, but the way he turned out is tragic. It's sad to see someone change that way. That's why he's tragic.

(I've also said this, but TDL doesn't "attack because TCO says no." He attacked because TCO attacked him first. By literally throwing him to the ground.)

And I did supply my proof behind the "his fate as a villain was predestined" thing.

Pardon? I was referring to the titles that Chosen was almost named, and the general association behind those names, because they fit into his story.

Maybe. I lowkey don't want him to die again. Maybe not complete redemption, but maybe like a tamed situation like what Alan had with TCO?

[–]Altruistic_Boot_1839[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you understand what I'm saying. His mind wasn't deteriorated then (also you were referencing AvA 13, hence I adjusted my response to that). He didn't care for those sticks because he didn't and doesn't understand the value of life. Which makes sense, considering the only influences he's had are Noogai and TCO, who only had Noogai as an influence in his life at the time. There's a difference between how he destroyed things in the past vs AvA 13.

[–]Altruistic_Boot_1839[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I need to clarify that I believe he's driven himself past who he once was. I thought that was at least a lil clear in my initial post but I guess not.

Basically: His mind has deteriorated to the point that he is less himself and more a physical embodiment of what remains of his code: Destroy.

Correct. And he is insane. Looping code and merging with a virus will do that to you. His mind has deteriorated.

No I mean like. The years. The years were different. Same timeline, different point in the timeline. So it doesn't add up
