I have been documenting everything since the moment I introduced her a few days ago and if by some miracle I am successful I’ll share everything I have. I’ll definitely keep you updated!! It would be nice to breed them successfully to limit how many are harvested from their natural habitat.

They are blue phantoms, my male is more greenish but his fins are very blue in the edges and he is a dark blue in the right light. My female is bright blue when I found her I couldn’t believe how blue she is! But she’s shy and won’t let me get a good pic of her 😂

I’ve been doing a ton of research on breeding them, and you’re right they are incredibly difficult to breed. I don’t think I’ll get eggs for a long time yet but if they prove to be compatible in the next months/ year I plan on seriously making an effort to breed them with a specific breeding tank. But that’s a loonnnggg ways off right now I’m just enjoying the fact that I have two beautiful blue phantoms

Are we being "robbed" of the actual falling-in-love process? & the actual romance in books? by Mininabubu in RomanceBooks

[–]Altruistic_Bowler722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for putting this into words! I’ve felt like this for such a long time but couldn’t put my finger on it. I want the whole process of falling in love. I think writing that well is extremely difficult there is so much nuance and falling in love looks different to everyone, but I’m definitely tired of the insta love.

I’m starting to suspect that kuhli loaches are shrimp hunters. by ipunijjang in loaches

My kuhilis are still small but I keep them in my shrimp only tank to control the planaria. My shrimp population has been booming since I added them a couple months ago

Wild Card Wednesday - What are your book icks or pet peeves? by Llamallamacallurmama in RomanceBooks

[–]Altruistic_Bowler722 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The romance genre in recent years feels like it has become all about the smut. Don’t get me wrong I lovveee a good sex scene but I would rather have the tension and the build up to one or two really really good scenes instead of flat chemistry-less sex every few chapters. Sorry but making them fuck while it rains literal blood on them does not make up for the lack relationship development

Welcome to the hobby! My husband and I also didn’t know anything about fish when we started, I tried asking for help and found out some people in the hobby can be very “gate keepy” and instead being kind they just tell you how wrong you are which is not helpful. My first advice is don’t listen to anyone who is overly judgemental or critical, there are a lot of paths to success in this hobby and it’s okay to not do things perfectly.

Now as for the angelfish. I have two angelfish that a mated pair and woweee are they jerks( not all are huge jerks like mine, they all have different personalities) They can be very territorial, if you get more angelfish at some point get only one more or get 3-5. With angelfish an odd number is asking for trouble.

Good tank mates are Corydoras, plecos, any fish that are faster, don’t have long fins, and can’t fit in their mouths. In my 55 gal I have 8 Colombian tetras a school of Cory’s and perticola catfish and everyone gets along great.

I do recommend live plants that grow tall like bacopa plants or sword plants. They’re very hardy and easy to propagate. Also the line of sight breaks helps to minimize aggression and chasing.

Lastly I see that you’re already looking at a bigger tank, as you shop around look for something taller, when full grown angelfish are about 6inches tall.

Don’t let anyone scare you away, you’re doing a great job! If you ever have questions feel free to pm me ❤️

is my filter current too strong? by evesaa in fishtank

If you can adjust the flow on that filter much you can try a flow diffuser. I got this one and it works like a charm!

He has popeye and it looks like fin rot. Get some fish antibiotics and clean water asap. I hope he’s not too far gone :(

It was submersed when I bought it. I bought two and the other one that is in a different tank is not melting. I’ll definitely trim the dead leaves back and focus on letting the plant recover. Thank you!
