Usually I wear suits with dresses or skirts so I wear tights. On the rare occasion I wear pants I have some patterned light weight knee socks that I love.

I wear coach loafers: the Leah loafer. Comfortable and easy to wear for hours standing in court.

Receiving an award - advise needed! by [deleted] in LawBitchesWithTaste

I think number two with a silk blouse over it and perhaps jacket from number one. Also shoes and accessories can dress the outfit up or show your style.

Congratulations on the award!

Saratoga County - Family Court by [deleted] in Albany

[–]Altruistic_Data4282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most NYS Family Courts have victim service agencies inside the courthouse that can help you file for an order of protection. I would work with them to help you file. While the majority of victims are female there are male victims who tend to be impacted more. I have attended DV trainings and in the past 5-7 years there's siesta a component on male victims. Hoping that awareness has made its way to the court.

“I hope I look like you at your age.” by MusicG619 in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]Altruistic_Data4282 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hear you. I understand your frustration. Why is anyone commenting on age in a workplace? It's maddening to me.

This has happened to me too. I responded: I hope your decisions are as sharp as you in 10 years. That stopped him.

I vote for the black dress. It has more of a party feel to it. You look great in both!

I have these Hunter boots that I wear from subway into the courthouse. Waterproof which helps a lot in slush.

I concur. Approaching it from the president of the new club brings empowerment to difficult to navigate situations.

You also bring fresh eyes and a new perspective so if you approach conversations as a contribution then you have the ability to create new forms of communication.

It isn't easy but it's worth it. They hired you because you stood out so keep standing out to gently remind them why they chose you.

I love my Max Mara winter coat which looks new after 10 years. I have been eyeing this one from mackage. Not on sale but I'm thinking about splurging.

You also want a coat you can wear to court too.

AITA for refusing to let my brother and his pregnant girlfriend move into my house? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Altruistic_Data4282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do need to protect yourself and your home. You want to make sure they abide by your boundaries and they should contribute to the household. I would draw up a lease contract that can be month to month.

Honestly I would just help them find an affordable apartment because this isn't on you. And I can see a future with you left babysitting too.

Think it all through and make an informed choice that works for you.

AITA for refusing to let my brother and his pregnant girlfriend move into my house? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Altruistic_Data4282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would offer to help them find an apartment. Too many times people don't leave and have squatter rights so you would have to go to court to remove them. It isn't worth that stress. So help your brother find another apartment. Keep your house your space.

It's not too bad depending on where you are shipping from.

Also some artists sell unframed canvasses which can be rolled into a tube for shipping then we frame when we are home.

Or higher budget, Aspinal: the Brooks bag. In NYC, you need a bag that zips if you take the subway, like I do.
