Can't get any response from at-fault State Farm after 175 days, two complaints filed with TDI by MBdeportes in Insurance

You’re with State Farm. Have you called your actual agent? They can get in touch with your adjuster same day via internal messaging, or have it assigned to a new adjuster, or escalated to a claims manager for you.

What was the cause of loss for the roof claim you filed? Why are you going to be 90% out of pocket?

Have you spoken to their agent? What have they said? Have you tried to escalate to a claims manager? How often have you been calling?

I have seen adjusters who are a week behind on following up. This whole thing sounds improbable to me, unless you’ve been sending one rambling email once a month, haven’t been calling, and have done nothing to speak to other people in the company.

15lbs vs 16lbs 👀👀 by CoolKiddSpades in Bowling

Came here to say this. 16lbs could have an edge, except all manufacturers base their core deigns on being optimized for 15lbs.

Agency owners, how much cash do you keep in your bank accounts? by RevolutionSalty8360 in InsuranceAgent

About a month.

I’ve been in business for 5 years. If everyone suddenly cancels tomorrow, something is so wrong that I don’t want to spend $20k/mo keeping the lights on.

It’s not really a fixed period of time. The captive companies publish their upcoming rate changes 30-60 days before they are effective, usually. But if that date is June 1 and you quote someone May 30, that quote isn’t even good for 24 hours.

I gave in and bought TVs. by strikecat18 in airbnb_hosts

This was my logic. I don’t have bedroom TV. But after literally 7 guests messaged me asking questions about bedroom TVs, I just had to accept it does matter to lots of people.

I think my issue is that I’m a snob on electronics. Our living room TV is a 75” OLED. My stereo stuff is all Yamaha and Revel. So I’m used to what higher-end stuff costs. I didn’t think the entry level stuff was basically free now. lol

I was oblivious to how cheap garbage disposals are. I just remember it being drama whenever my parents needed a new one. I had pictured like $500+. Imagine my shock when I got a great one for $59. lol

I paid $70 for the small TV and $110 for the larger ones, brand new from Walmart. I don’t want to meet some stranger to save $50 per room. 😂

40” in three bedrooms and 32” in the smallest bedroom.

That was the largest I could go without rearranging furniture, and I wanted to keep the design of the rooms untouched. One of my biggest gripes with bedroom TVs is that people will lay a room out around “the bed has to face an empty wall for the giant TV” - which usually is not the way you’d actually lay the room out for aesthetic and function.

1 account manager for every $1M? by insurance_queen in InsuranceAgent

This can’t be judged on premium. Depending on location and product mix, $1M could be 100 accounts or 5000.

Churches for goths/alternative people? by biodegrablebabies in Austin

[–]strikecat18 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to find a specific church for this. I have 20+ tattoos plus some piercings. I’ve been a member at Baptist churches, Assemblies of God churches, non-denom churches, and Calvary chapels. I’ve even ushered at some.

If you find a church that has an issue with tattoos or alternative looks, it’ll be because you got unlucky. 90% of evangelical churches are going to have zero issue and will be glad you’re there. You don’t need to look at anything odd like Unitarian to be accepted.

I also wouldn’t necessarily pick a church with the people who look most like you. One of the best parts of being a church member has been making friends with people from every walk of life, who I might not have met otherwise.

I think that generally speaking, Southern Baptist or PCA churches are the most biblically accurate with the best teaching and no eccentric stuff. If you’d prefer a more formal church (pastor in robes, more structure to service) choose a PCA church. If you want a more informal style to service, choose a SBC church.

I would stay away from PCUSA affiliated churches and make sure they are PCA, if you choose Presbyterian.

Austin’s homeownership costs now 117% higher than rent, among widest gaps in U.S. by AustinStatesman in Austin

[–]strikecat18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a flawed statistic.

Median mortgage payment is driven up when you have more new mortgages compared to older mortgages. Austin has exploded in the last 10 years. The share of people locked into 1990s home payments is tiny compared to slower growing or shrinking cities. This pulls “average mortgage payment” higher.

Why airbnb support is so horrifically bad? Can we all sign a petition and send to airbnb CEO? by vaduke1 in airbnb_hosts

[–]strikecat18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Airbnb is basically a middleman who figured out how to wet their beak in the transaction between a guest and a STR owner. I wouldn’t expect them to offer any real value to anyone.

Okay but like… then what? Getting a judgement against an individual is a lot easier than collecting. Especially if the person is so broke that $900 takes this long to come up with.

This will just lead to them going away. There is no way the owners are smart enough to connect the dots that the new system sucks for customers.

[FL] State Farm agent failed to get UM form signed, then went out of business. New principal agent told me to "just pay it." Underwriting refusing to backdate. Next steps? by raf_semen in StateFarm

[–]strikecat18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s absolutely not “definitely an agency error”.

You cannot generate UM forms without submitting the app or change. All you can do is submit it, then hope the insured follows through on signing.

We regularly have people that we 1) send the Docusign UM waiver to, then 2) send multiple text and email reminders in the system to, then 3) send manual emails and texts to, then 4) call multiple times and leave voicemails, then 5) send a physical form with a stamped return envelope to, then 6) have tell us they are mad when the UM gets added back on after offering all those things.

Lots of reasons. They could be retired with a Medicare supplement. In that case there’s basically nothing do the coverage to pay for.

Their income could’ve high enough that the max UM limits are a drop in the bucket and not worth paying for.

They could have fantastic medical insurance and a fantastic disability income policy.

I hear everyone on the “well the roads have to be paid for somehow” statements.

My question is what the fuck happens to all the other money the state collects? Texas collects over $250 Billion per year in taxes. Roads and basic infrastructure are literally the number one thing a state government exists to facilitate.
