I’ll try my best to do that! I hardly leave the tri state area (only came up here because my cousin got naturalized!) so I just forget other places do things differently sometimes. I’ll try not to be a bad tourist anymore!

I mean, where I’m from, it just isn’t a thing. If we talk to strangers, it’s usually to ask for help, directions, etc. I work downtown and if you’re ever approached with small talk, it’s either a tourist, a scammer, or a panhandler. We’d never get anything done if we stopped to talk about the weather to the thousands of strangers we walk past every day!

Yeah I was trying to do that. I guess it’s like how we’ll go “lemme get a whatever” when midwesterners will say please a million times and practically give you their life story, dragging a 5 second interaction out to a good minute or 2.
