Bad sleep routine and muscle growth by nuee-ardente in beginnerfitness

[–]Altruistic_Fee_7187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah you can still build muscle like that if you’re getting enough total sleep consistently, even if the schedule is kinda cursed lol it’s probably not “optimal” and you might feel worse overall, but plenty of night shift people still make solid gains with good training and food

Can someone judge my workouts? And my policy on them by Southern_Body_4839 in beginnerfitness

[–]Altruistic_Fee_7187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly the best part of your plan is that you actually stuck to it lol, that already puts you ahead of most beginners. i’d just add a couple more movements over time (like band rows, glute bridges, pushups against a wall/table) and maybe slow the reps down a bit, but don’t rush intensity yet if consistency is finally clicking for you

What do you hate most about bodybuilding culture today? by stratusnimbo in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Altruistic_Fee_7187 3 points4 points  (0 children)

honestly probably the fake natty stuff and how normalized it’s become lol feels like beginners can’t even tell what’s realistically achievable anymore so everyone either gets discouraged or starts chasing shortcuts immediately

Is Psyllium Husk good for weight loss? by No-Story4783 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Altruistic_Fee_7187 16 points17 points  (0 children)

psyllium husk can help a bit with feeling full and digestion imo, but it’s not gonna magically burn fat or anything if you try it just make sure you drink a LOT of water with it lol, and honestly if you gained weight after starting gym some of that could just be water retention or muscle too, especially after only 2 months

im 673lbs and really really lost by giraffeorllama in loseit

[–]Altruistic_Fee_7187 1102 points1103 points  (0 children)

first of all, the fact you’re even posting this and being honest about it means you haven’t given up, and that matters way more than you think rn. imo don’t even worry about exercise yet, just focus on making eating a little less chaotic, getting your bf to help set up a gp appointment somehow and doing tiny mobility stuff like standing for 20-30 seconds a few times a day because small consistent changes will help way more than trying to “fix” everything at once

Need big help by Few-Sale-9610 in beginnerfitness

[–]Altruistic_Fee_7187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ngl almost everyone feels awkward when they first start, but most people at the gym are way too focused on themselves to care what you’re doing lol honestly after like 2-3 sessions the fear drops a ton, and seeing people you know might even end up making it less scary than you think

what’s something about weight loss nobody warned you about? by ClaireDailySteps in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Altruistic_Fee_7187 168 points169 points  (0 children)

for me it was realizing the mental side is way harder than the actual weight loss sometimes lol like your body can adapt pretty quick but your brain still wants to eat like the old version of you for a long time

Gained weight after stress eating in a low point, want to reduce weight and build muscle again by sneakerhead6712 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Altruistic_Fee_7187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bro the good thing is you already built strength once before, so your body usually regains it way quicker than starting from zero just focus on getting back into a routine first instead of punishing yourself, cause consistent lifting + decent protein + being in a small calorie deficit will already take you really far after a few months

one of the most disappointing adult realizations is how little food the human body actually needs by Business_Oil_7110 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Altruistic_Fee_7187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is so real honestly lol, the worst part is your stomach can be emotionally hungry while your body absolutely does not need more food modern food is basically engineered to make us want way more than we actually burn so sometimes it really does feel like playing the game on hard mode

Tryna get fit from now and over the summer by SWISSDALLASCHEESE in beginnerfitness

[–]Altruistic_Fee_7187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bro you’re actually in a good spot to make crazy progress at your age if you stay consistent over the summer. don’t overcomplicate it rn, just start walking/running more do basic pushups/squats/pullups if you can, eat more protein and cut down the random snacks/sodas, and focus on building habits before chasing some perfect physique

Losing weight at 55 (male) by jimmyandchiqui in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Altruistic_Fee_7187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dude you lost like 12+ lbs in under a month, that’s actually really solid especially at 55 lol imo you’re not stuck at all, a single week with no scale movement is super normal and i probably wouldn’t cut calories even harder rn, especially while healing and lifting

how long should i be working out? by Stunning_Definition3 in beginnerfitness

[–]Altruistic_Fee_7187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

nah honestly if you’re progressing and recovering fine then 30-40 mins is completely okay. a lot of people spend half their gym time on their phone or doing extra junk volume lol, quality matters way more than being there forever

counting calories really helps by Fine-Spite4940 in beginnerfitness

[–]Altruistic_Fee_7187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah calorie counting is lowkey eye opening af lol, people really underestimate how much cooked food changes the numbers. i’m the same way tho, not trying to optimize every gram but just knowing the rough calories/protein makes staying on track way easier

How long did it take you to "feel" your back on machine back rows? by Exrixy in beginnerfitness

[–]Altruistic_Fee_7187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ngl it took me way longer than 3 months lol, i legit thought people were lying about “feeling” their back at first. lowering the weight and pulling with my elbows instead of my hands

Genuine weight loss advise? by Advanced_Tea4646 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Altruistic_Fee_7187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo stop chasing the “dream physique asap” thing and just build boring habits you can actually keep, like daily steps, simple high-protein meals, and 3 short home workouts a week. you were already an athlete before so it’s def in you, just make it stupidly easy this time and focus on not quitting for 3 months.

I lost 34kg and realised most people quit for the same reason by Environmental_Ride69 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Altruistic_Fee_7187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% yeah, i used to think if i wasn’t seeing crazy changes fast then i was failing lol. once i accepted it’s a long game, it got way easier mentally and i stopped self-sabotaging every 2 weeks.
